Tapping “No Thanks” only takes you back to the Settings page, and there is no way to do anything with the actual scheduling. All my outdoor plugs now have the same problem. I am neither interested in Sunrise to Sunset, nor does Wyze need to know my location of an outdoor plug. The whole pop-up appears to me to have been put together in a hasty manner and lacks the normal Wyze quality.
A different plug has a different pop-up in that it brings up a full screen, and simply says to “Allow your location”, with the only option to tap “Okay”. You can’t even back out of it. This is unacceptable.
Yeah so we use your location to target the exact sunrise and sunset times. It’s pretty neat actually. But honestly you should only have to do this once.
Your reply didn’t address the problem at hand. Don’t insult our intelligence about why location is needed to determine sunrise/sunset. We understand what that means. My comment about Wyze knowing my location is a moot point, since Wyze already knows where I, and all my stuff is. The real point is we are being required to turn location on regardless of whether or not we want to use it. I want to schedule my own time, or change my schedule, which I currently can’t do, because it loops or locks if I don’t want to use it. Additionally, it appears location is for the App, not the plug (or any equipment). Bottom line, I cannot modify MY schedule without turning on location. Or in the other case stated, I have to restart my phone, if I don’t want to hit Okay, because there is no escape.
That sounds like a real pain, and I haven’t seen the exact message from the screenshot in your initial post, but I agree that it appears to be thrown together and lack professionalism (especially “tolet” ; where are the designers and copywriters in this process?). I think I have seen the other message you described.
I wouldn’t mind them so much if Wyze’s time-based functions actually worked. My most recent Support ticket, which was specifically about Vacation Mode for lighting and plug products, was closed without resolution. (Vacation Mode has never worked as advertised for me.) Wyze provides a place for users to store their location, but they don’t seem to use it for time-(zone)-based functions (which seems like a good reason for a user to volunteer that information). Maybe that facility is used only by Home Monitoring? I really don’t know. It just seems broken to me, and I’ve discussed this recently in a couple of other topics[1][2].
If you’re seeking assistance, then providing some detail about what you’re experiencing, what troubleshooting you’ve attempted, and what you’re trying to accomplish might help others in the Forum to help you.
I wonder if you might be referring to some kind of location/time-based feature that isn’t working correctly on your Plug Outdoors, but that’s just a guess on my part. If that’s the case, then I can relate to your frustration. Wyze seems to really struggle with features that rely on time, especially around the transition to Daylight Saving Time.
