This is what I’d like to see, since my Wyze account/profile is capable of storing my physical address:
- From the app’s Home screen, at Account ➜ Home, they should include a (add) button to add other physical locations to a user’s profile/account.
- If a user has more than one location listed on this screen, then the user should be able to select one location as the default location.
- Tapping on an address should provide a facility that lists (checklist fashion) every Wyze device associated with the account that is…
- static (so don’t include things like Watches, Headphones, Buds, etc.) and
- capable of using time-based features (Local Schedules, Automations, Vacation Mode, etc.).
- A user could then simply check a box beside each device that’s assigned to that location.
- Navigating to an individual device’s Device Info screen (in Settings) would also display the assigned location for that device and allow the user to relocate the device from that screen, as well. (So a user could assign a device’s physical location via two different pathways in the app.)
If Wyze could do this and program their time-based features to respect a user’s chosen location(s) for that user’s device(s), then this seems like it could also solve the problem of people reporting things like camera time stamp changes when they travel to a different time zone. This location-based device assignment would essentially “lock” a device to a time zone. That would make this feature addition useful even for users with devices only at a single location.
