More of a commentary for the Wyze team but also the community may know where I can find something. I am loving my outdoor cam so far (day 2). On the website, on the Outdoor Camera page there’s an excellent detailed video on how to set-up the base and cameras and how to mount the cameras. However, there is no video that I could find about the next step. What are the features of the cameras, what does each setting do and the pros and cons of changing each. What happens when I press record? Where does the recorded video end up? Can I zoom in on videos? What is the cooldown period about and why or why wouldn’t I change it? I am learning some of the answers by trial and error or accident. It would be nice to have a video as detailed as the set-up and mounting video to explain the rest. Hunting and pecking for every answer gets tedious. If I have missed a video or owners manual please let me know. Thanks
Similarly, on Cam Plus, how does the camera record longer? Where does the video end up?, How does a user access the video?
Wow !!! You don’t want much, trial by fire is the best way to learn. How about 1 or 2 questions at a time. If you press record while the camera is on and live streaming the video is sent to your phone/device picture/video file. You can zoom in watching the live stream or recorded events, just use your fingers on the screen.Cooldown= when the cam records an event and it is set for like 5 min.cool down It will not record again until the 5 min.is up. If you have cam plus just set it a no cool down. All event videos cam plus or not may be viewed by going to the app home page and tapping the events button on the bottom.
If you press the record button in the livestream, the video will save to the album under the “more” section in the livestream. These videos aren’t saved to the cloud.
As mentioned before the livestream recordings save to the album. The free 12 second event recordings save to the cloud and are viewable in the events section of the Wyze app. You can use Cam Plus to extend the length of your videos.
You can use two fingers to zoom in and out of live and recorded video, this is a digital zoom so the quality will decrease a little.
The cool-down is the amount of time between videos. You can change this if you don’t want your camera on a lot to save battery. The minimum cool-down is 1 minute without Cam Plus and you can get Cam Plus to have no cool-down.
I would also suggest taking a look at the Wyze support website. You’ll find answers to most of your questions about Wyze services and products.
Thank you for the reply. I have been answering all of my questions using “trial by fire”. But the set-up and mounting video was so well done (c’mon it shows how to put a screw into wood, and how to plug in the base station) that I think a similar video about the features and options would be even more welcomed and useful. This was the first time I have ever heard or seen the term cool down. Obviously all the answers can be found and/or learned by trial, but easy is nice too. Many of my questions were answered nicely on the Support page, but it’s the last place I looked thinking that clicking there would just bring me to either a chat feature or email form. I would have linked all of the information there to the product page.
As I stated, I have nothing but good feelings about my purchase and Wyze and the community. I just think the information could be found more easily.
