I’m using a cellular hotspot that has limited range (10’ typical). Does the outdoor cam require a direct connection to wifi, or just to the base station. Can I place the base station near the hotspot for a good internet connection, and the cameras further away with only connection to the base station ( no direct internet connection)?
Welcome to the Forum Community, @jeffb9! The outdoor cam requires connection to the base station, not directly to your wifi. Once the base is connnected the cam can be placed anywhere within its range. If you can get the base connected to your hotspot you can place the cam anywhere within the base range. That will depend on many factors like walls and other objects between the base and the cam. I have found that mine vary but are usually around 50-60’.
Remember that the cam is weatherproof but the base is not!
