I’ve had the OG Telephoto still unopened for a while now and got it because I was tired of my V3 missing events that for it were too far away. That’s because at some point Wyze decided to reduce the recording sensitivity, which made no sense. Is there an easy way to use the OG Telephoto with a V3 camera, since they don’t share the same mounting hardware, I thought about connecting them together with one of 3M sticky rings included with my other cameras, but I don’t want it permanent.
I highly recommend 3M command hanging strips (like Velcro) similar to these:
I use those in LOTS of cases like this. Most of my Indoor Wyze cameras and Wyze sensors are all mounted with Command strips just like this. I cut them to size and then stick one to wall and one to the thing I’m hanging like the camera, sensor or camera metal disc or whatever. I have velcro’d cameras together this way too. The Velcro holds way more weight than the camera and it’s easy to remove.
I had the same concern about making things permanent, so I found this to be an EXCELLENT option for us people who like to be able to easily remove or adjust things. I don’t regret it at all. I highly recommend it. And you can use the rest for lots of other stuff.
I thought about that and have used them a lot inside my house for other things. However, my concern is that they won’t hold up outside in the elements very long and the camera eventually fall off. But thanks for the suggestion.
You can stick an adapter between the OG and v3 mount, but it’s not pretty. If you PM me your snail mail address I’ll send you one of my spares.
I appreciate it but I was hoping for something a bit cleaner. I’ll probably just try the velcro thing.
If you use standard velcro (hook and loop), you may get false motion detections during windy conditions. You can mitigate that by using locking velco (hook and hook).
Well, I ended up trying the 3M hook to hook strips and the sticky side wouldn’t hold. So I ended up having to use the 3M grey stick pad that came with my other cameras. I was able to get it to stick on to the Telephoto camera mount and then to the metal disc that was already stuck to the location. It’s not ideal but good enough for now.
I posted this in another area but since you guys are here, this Telephoto camera that I mounted it’s been in the box for almost a year so I never used it before. It has a physical spotlight on the camera but from what I understand these cameras don’t have spotlights. There is no way to turn the light on in the settings. Was this a manufacturing screw up that this camera has a spotlight? And if so, I wish there was a way to access the regular OG setup to use this light.
