Cancelling Cam Unlimited just stops it from Automatically renewing. It will still work until the expiration date. Just remove the cam you have issues with.

I think they’re saying you can’t do that with unlimited, it just automatically puts all cams on?
If so then just changing to “all motion” and disabling any smart events seems to be the workaround based on what others have found.
You are correct, I just checked my unlimited and see no way to remove a cam like you could with Cam Plus. ?
No. That didnt work, tried everything a few weeks back.
Remember some time ago I was foaming at the mouth exactly for this issue (plus not being able to put individual cameras on Cam Lite) that led me to cancel the plan all together ![]()
Just dm’d you with requested details.
Thought this was interesting:
I am running the OG in various configs with respect to Cam Plus cloud on, off, SD card continuous recording and not etc.
Today I was running Cam Plus off with continuous SD recording on and event recording set to “motion”. On occasion the event tab timeline was displaying a nag-ad to upgrade to Cam Plus along with a clip length number of 5 min for the event thumbnail still image and an icon that looks to be a camera sleeping “Z z”. The best part is that this event footnote or label, went away from that associated event thumbnail and reappeared about an hour later on a new event thumbnail. Same as before and as seen in the attached image. Coincidence with the 5 min clip length label and the known corrupted/mislabeled “5 min” Cam Plus events? And what of the icon? By the way the actual event was around 24 seconds.
I think that’s an indicator of the mandatory 5-minute cooldown when you don’t have Cam Plus enabled, since your screenshot is showing the Events tab for events recorded to the cloud and not the microSD card recording timeline.
This is a repost from OG Gap in event recording
So I tried something that IS NOW working for my 2 older OG’s. In Event Recording I changed the recording preferences to All Events instead of Smart Detection, and then under Customize Detections I unchecked everything except Other Motion and Other Sounds. I did that this morning and have had 4 motion detections(people walking by) which uploaded to cloud and have no gaps in the SD card, and have correct timing of 15 sec and 13 sec(none of the erroneous 5 minutes). I have Cam Unlimited so have not been able to remove them from it. So far working normally now.
Seems the only current workaround for cam unlimited subscribers is to change the settings on the cam to “all motion” and disable smart detections.
I was under the impression there was no cool down for events being recognized—that events would continue to register as a thumbnail regardless of how close together the events occur. This is disappointing to know. So this means users who opt out of a cloud subscription and work strictly off their SD card, are at the risk of missing multiple events, should they occur within a five minute window.
With Continuous microSD recording, no recorded event should be missed, but because of the cooldown there would be no notification or tagging (or thumbnail snapshot) of the event on the Events tab (where cloud events get listed) during the cooldown period. A non-subscriber should still be able to play everything that was recorded to microSD for that entire five-minute window. Since non-subscribers are unaffected by this apparent Cam OG bug discussed here, they’re not seeing these gaps in the microSD recording timeline, so this appears to be another case where not subscribing is perversely advantageous. That’s my understanding, anyway.
Can confirm what @crease mentions (I have no subscription, never have), even with event only recording, nothing will get missed recording wise, it just won’t tag/notify more than once every 5 mins. I have a couple running events only like my stairways and in between the icons for events, there will be a green spot on the timeline if I walk through twice in 5 mins, and the video plays fine. But only one thumbnail and notification, from the first one.
It also won’t run any automation that is based off motion/sound detection (or really do anything that is event driven) more than one time (each) every 5 mins.
Yes, you’ve got it correct. Perverse or ironically advantageous is a great way of describing. My point about the downside is while yes, any events not documented in the events tab will have been captured regardless by the SD card however, what the user doesn’t know is just that. The tree fell but Wyze wasn’t there to see it during that cooldown period so for the user, no sound of a falling tree. Metaphoric reach maybe but it’s up to the user to workout if something ever occurred but only if they notice something off within the live camera stream ie a chair tipped over or newspaper missing.
I get what you’re saying, and what’s even more frustrating about that kind of situation is that there is no 2×, 4×, etc. option for speeding up microSD recording playback (though that’s been requested in the Wishlist, and I encourage people to visit that topic, comment, and VOTE for it), so someone might have to watch that entire five-minute period (or multiple such windows if there was reason for concern) in real time or pull the card to watch the videos on a PC in a viewer that allows other speeds. The increased playback speeds are a nice feature on the cloud recordings and something I actually use as a subscriber.
Totally agree. Thanks for pointing out the related forum topic. Adding my vote now.
That strategy makes sense. The Wyze engineers see symptoms consistent with a failing power brick.
I wonder if they added some new AI model to the camera and when it sees motion, it’s too much computing for the amount of power the camera can provide. Cam shuts down, event video upload interrupted, SD card write corrupted.
It also explains why I was having trouble with an OG that was clicking it’s night vision filter every few minutes all night even when I had it on manual mode.
Very aggravating recordings are fine until there is activity, ok right blame it on the SD Card?
Very Strange just started happening recently, changed SD Cards, Still having problems, only affecting a few OG cameras
Have you read through this thread? There is information on the issue and temporary workarounds.
NOTICE:
I have implemented this approach as outlined and can confirm that for me, after 24 hours, this has reconciled the issues we’ve been experiencing. I am going to update the support agent who’s working on my ticket so that she can share this information with whoever the engineers are she’s been the intermediary for.
I don’t feel this is a fix because obviously, it’s at the cost of turning off features that we have subscribed and paid for but again to be clear, these are my results: all of my event recordings to the cloud have been accurately and fully uploaded and without any negative impact on the SD card recording timeline (gaps) or any erroneous “fake” 5 minute event clips.
Thanks @rick5 for bringing information across from another thread.
