Wyze Ticket 4730158
As has already been posited in this thread, it must be related to having a subscription, as none of my OGs (or OG Tel) are showing this behavior and it seems everyone in this thread mentioning the issue has a subscription. I would guess maybe app related but could be backend server too.
I wonder if someone were to pop the SD card into a computer if the video would actually be there and it is just the app getting confused trying to index both at the same time?
@habib yours may just be coincidence it sounds like…
I also wonder if everyone seeing this on the OG is using iOS or if any are Android.
Both IOS and android here have same issue with the OG gaps on SD card
Exactly! Thats whats happening on both of my OGs as well. I have unlimited CamPlus for a dozen different wyze cams. This only happens with the OGs
If you’re feeling adventurous, make a note of the time of one of the gaps, do a “safe remove” of the SD card in the app, take it out of the cam and toss it in a computer, see if there is a gap in the files (easy to see since they’re labeled with date and time in 1 minute increments).
Been a while since I’ve pulled the card in one of my OGs, I think it may put the event videos in a separate folder, so may have to look in a couple of places. I wonder if that separation is part of the issue, it isn’t reading that folder for some reason. Like I said though I can’t remember if that’s the case, or if I’m confusing it with my dash cams which definitely do that.
I’m running the latest 3.x app, the latest OG firmware, and do not have any subscription, no gaps on any of mine.
Yeah, that’s why I suspect a server-side issue.
Same issue, only affects my OG cameras in multiple locations starting on dec 24. Not firmware as a firmware was not issued close to that date. My guess is that these OGs have burned out due to capturing continous events 24/7 due to fog and rain. That’s the only thing I can think of. It’s not the wifi, it’s not the sd cards. OG cams are NOT made to endure continuous recording while uploading events for too long.
same. multiple og cameras in 3 different locations at the same time. not the sd card. not wifi. either their web server end or ogs cannot handle uploading events and cont. recording for too long. happened when we started having tons of fog and rain. og cameras are not made to endure. it’s not a firmware update cause an update was not released in or around dec 24. i called it in. they have no clue. i told them to look into the server end. crickets. for now, any og cams i place, the uploading will be turned off so that i at least have continous recording on the card.
Nothing to do with wifi or power outlets or automations or firmware. Either on wyzes end or og cams cannot handle cont. recording or too long. They are not made to endure. They are cheap for a reason. Too many now describing the same issue. The problem has been narrowed down to some issue on wyzes ends regarding og uploads or OG cams are starting to breaking down.
Mine are coming up on 3 years of continuous recording (5 of them) and am not having the issue. What other evidence do you have to back up that statement? Based on comments in this thread, it looks to probably be a software bug related to cam plus and managing two sets of events. I suspect the video is actually on the SD card but an app update has confused it. But someone with the issue would need to pull the card to confirm.
It is very unlikely that multiple people with multiple cams would have them all start experiencing a hardware failure on the same day.
I pulled the sd card from OG and viewed it on my laptop.
There were 3 gaps on sd card appearing on the camera at 10:32am, 10:40am and 10:57am. All 3 were events on the camera.
On the laptop, all 3 events were missing on the 1 minute record videos for those respective times.
The events show as jpegs in the alarm directory on the sd card.
I will try to attach screen shots to show the USB D: drive contents on the sd cards
So the files are there but are corrupted.
Since we know it isn’t firmware related, it must be some setting sent down from the wyze servers that is impacting cam plus/unlimited subscribers for whatever reason. Or perhaps a setting in the app that gets sent to the cam with similar result.
Maybe @mavens can loop in some wyze employees. if you haven’t already opened a ticket, I would do so and provide the info/screen shots so they can look into it.
I suggested that, too:

So far only one user in this topic has replied with a ticket number. I haven’t seen any more updates from Wyze about this, but I suspect they probably want more information for the engineers to establish a pattern.
Hopefully the screenshot showing that the video clips at the time of events are corrupted will help point them in the right direction.
Yeah, I hope so. I think that’s good data. ![]()
The one Cam OG I have continuously recording outside isn’t something I want to go pull a card from right now, but it’s definitely showing the microSD recording timeline gaps as I noted above. I plugged in another Cam OG[1] that I’ll be able to check later. That card’ll be easier to pull and look at.
To test sound recording because of another topic. ↩︎
I didn’t pay attention to the camera model, but I confirm that I did notice today that I had a couple of cameras get switched from Continuous Recording to Event Recording, and some that switched from record all events to smart detections only. I switched them back and moved on to reviewing the next cam. Can’t remember which had the issues. I always have all my cameras on continuous recording and record all motion.
I have seen that happen a few times over the years. I always assumed it was a firmware or app update where a dev forgot to tell the update to preserve the existing settings instead of switch the default.
I also had a weird glitch start at 2:30am mountain time this morning with some cameras on my Cam Unlimited, but was able to resolve it by clicking the “Reset Services” which restored them to normal functionality again.
I don’t think this is changing settings, at least not what I’ve observed. On the one Cam OG where I’ve seen this so far, microSD recording is still set for Continuous and hasn’t changed at all recently (because of manual selection or otherwise). This seems to be an issue related to having Continuous microSD recording selected and having that Cam OG attached to a subscription and uploading cloud events, at least if I correctly understand what I’ve read and seen so far.
For grins, I went ahead and tapped the Reset Services button and then re-checked my settings. I’ll see what happens with the microSD timeline and watch for any changes.
Interesting, I just went and checked my OG camera and it actually had the MicroSD card recording toggled off ENTIRELY! I don’t know how long that’s been the case for. I then pressed reset services and it was switched back to Smart detections instead of all events and had record sound toggled off, so I had to turn it on to get the sound detections.
Mine might be mostly related to a separate issue that started for me at 2:30am, but that is a lot of weird changes to my OG that didn’t happen to other camera models and is worth noting especially since the MicroSD recording was disabled.
I just saw word that they are investigating, but I don’t have any more detail than that.
Since I posted screen shots of what the sd card looks Ike on my computer, there’s been 2 events on the OG that appear on the sd card in full, with no gaps at 5:37pm and 5:38pm. Will keep an eye on events overnight to see if issue has been resolved.
