OG Cams Stop Recording to SD Cards

I have several OG cams, and I’m starting to throw them in the trash. they will record for a day or two and stop recording! Reformat, restart, swap SD Cards, nothing works.

Have a a half dozen that are still working fine, Really confused!!!

It’s not just OG cams! I purchased a new Duo Pan Cam a few months ago and not long after it would not record to the SD card. Wyze replaced the camera and it recorded properly for a while but once again is not seeing the SD card. I have an annual subscription so thankfully I was able to get clips of a recent event of a loose dog terrorizing a neighbor and her leashed dog. I wish I could get the full video though.

What brand/model/size SD cards are you using and are you doing continuous or events only recording?

Your symptoms sound like what a worn out (or fake) SD card will experience, and cheap SD cards will wear out pretty quickly in a video recording environment.

I use Samsung Pro Endurance in several OGs, Panv3s, and a Camv4, none have had any issues in around 2 years of continuous recording. I do have a “spare” OG and Panv3 that I use from time to time and an SD card that I know has a bad spot about halfway in. If i forget to format it before it gets to that point, the cams will have an error and stop recording.

I second the question on what brand/model/size SD cards you guys are having trouble with.

I just bought my first OG (long time VDP user) and was going to ask for card recommendations, b/c I am annoyed at having to pay an additional $29/year for cloud for this camera which will be only event recording. (I already pay $19/year for cloud for the VDP).

is a 128 gig SD large enough for this? barely 3-4 events/ daily.

TIA.

I’ve tended to use [non-counterfeit] 256 GB SanDisk Extreme or SanDisk High Endurance cards in my Wyze Cams and have had good performance with those (with the exception of a Cam Pan v3 with microSD issues, but I don’t think that’s the fault of the card). I have microSD recording set to Continuous and see in excess of 2 weeks of footage (seeing 18-19 days when I check one now). I think your capacity choice is likely to depend on your application, budget, and overall need.
