No motion detected

I place a battery operated Cam pro in a window overlooking my driveway. The camera shows a nice sharp picture but does not pick up motion. My corded camera in the next room looking at the same scene picks up motion just fine. Any thoughts on what the problem maybe ? I have the camera set to detect up to thirty feet but I am not using detection zone. I tried a detection zone earlier but no motion was detected despite traffic in the area.

Glass can have a huge impact. Perhaps one is facing where it has a bit more glare (even if it doesn’t seem significant). I’m guessing the battery cams are naturally less sensitive as they have to conserve power. Is your corded cam also looking through the same type of window? You can try cranking up the sensitivity and also using detection zone to eliminate any areas that aren’t important, both should help detect more motion.

Are you using cam plus/smart detections or just plain motion? Cam plus is even more reliant on ideal conditions to make identifications.

The battery cam is probably using the PIR motion detection, which does not work through glass. Your other camera uses a pixel change detection method which does work through glass.

Ah if that’s the case, that 100% explains it. Do we know if the BCP uses that? Suppose it would use less power.

I used to work for a thermal camera company. A sheet of glass looks solid black in the infrared spectrum, yet a black plastic bag is see through. Whole different world.
