I have an OG cam that’s about 9 mo old. It updated the firmware yesterday and now the night vision doesn’t work - the picture is pitch black. I turned night vision off, on, back to auto and it’s still too dark. I can’t use the IR light because it reflects off the stuff around the camera and completely obscures the picture. Not sure if the update caused this issue or if my camera broke but since it was fine before the update, I’m inclined to say it’s the update.
Pics are from before the update, after the update, and with IR lights on.
Embedded pic is after update. Will try to add the other two pics in the comments - only letting me add one picture.
There doesn’t look to be any ambient light? “Color night vision” needs a reasonable amount of light to function. Was there previously a night light or some other small source of light?
Can you clarify if all 3 of those pictures have night mode either “on” or “auto”? They all seem to be black and white which would imply night mode is on. Or are you looking for black and white but without the IR illuminators? In my experience that needs even more light than "color night vision: (night mode off) does due to the IR filter being in place.
It looks like the camera shifted left a bit. Did the bush become the focal point after the move? I am surprised you don’t see any light near the doorway. It almost looks like one was taken at night and the other in the day.
Welcome to the Forum, @FLVA2MI!
I agree that something doesn’t seem right about these images and what you’re describing. If someone showed me only the first two pictures, I would think that they’re both with taken with Night Vision Mode set to Auto or On (and Night Vision Mode actually operating in both), but with IR illumination in the second, so I’m really curious about what might be providing the illumination in that image.
I’m also curious about how you have Night Vision Conditions set (Dusk or Dark), though I’m not sure that actually matters here.
They weren’t side by side (though I could set them up that way for an apples-to-apples test), but I did check images with Night Vision Mode set to Auto or On and with Night Vision IR Lights both enabled and disabled (separate tests) on two different cameras with two different firmware versions: 1.0.80 and 1.0.84. They both appeared as expected, so I don’t think this is a firmware issue.
