Night vision has stopped working

I just got my cam v3 on Friday. It’s been working great in my garage. Today I added an SD card. I formatted it successfully, Just now I was looking at the camera display and it seems like when the light goes out, the night vision is not working. It was working great this morning. It just shows purple. When I walk out there and the light comes on, the picture is beautiful. But when the light turns off, instead of the usual black and white image (IR) it is a purple blob (you can see some light bleeding in from the garage door. Any ideas?

Sounds like the IR device may be stuck. In the past, this could be rectified by going to the Camera and Cycling through the IR Settings: Auto, On, Off. I would do it a couple of times stopping on each one to make sure it changes before going to the next one.

It seems to be working now. I wonder if the extensive heat was causing issues. I’ll keep an eye on it. Thank you.

Most cams use a small electromagnet to move the IR filter into place. Any small amount of friction or resistance can cause it to stick, so your thought on the excessive heat is probably spot on, plastic likes to move and expand/contract with temperature changes.

It has a 1 year warranty so keep an eye on it and if it keeps doing it, have it replaced. Several of my cams are in direct sun and we had a couple weeks of 95 degree days (not as bad as some parts of the country but still pretty hot on the cams) and none had any issues that I saw. May just be a one time fluke, but time will tell.
