Neither of my Outdoor Cams will shift to IR illuminated Night Mode

IR works fine if turned on. Night Mode works fine if on. But not in Auto. I get a flash, then darkness. On both of my Outdoor Cams. Clearly this is a software bug, no? Not getting much help from Wyze.

There must be some ambient light, like moonlight, for that mode (“color night vision”) to work. For example, inside my garage at night, it’s totally dark.

Can you clarify? You have it set to night mode=auto and IR lights = on, but when it switches to night mode you don’t see anything? But manually switching with the same ambient light level looks fine (black and white image)?

I’m wondering if your IR filter may be getting stuck sometimes but not others, and it is just coincidence that it seems to be a problem with auto.

Yes, exactly. I see a fine b&w image if night vision is set to on but if it’s set to auto I see a bright flash followed by a dark screen (same image as when night vision is turned to off). Since I’m getting identical issue from two different outdoor cams it seems like the issue must be software. Unless the auto switch is handled by the base station. That seems unlikely to me but I don’t know how all this stuff works. Btw I’m testing by putting the cams into a desk drawer and I see the flash when the drawer if completely closed. I first noticed the flash followed by darkness in events that were being recorded at night.

Can you show us a picture from the camera? I have an idea of what might be causing this although it’s been a while since I’ve used a lot of my outdoor cameras, I do remember running into a similar issue many many moon ago. I’m wondering if this is the same scenario and I don’t wanna prime you with it. If you can post the image of what you’re experiencing showing what the camera sees during day and night I think between the community and the mavens and such we might be able to figure this out.
