New Pan Camera Plug Adapter

Excellent, however they are unavailable

It looks like you can get them on Newegg.com

But, it ships from China. So it may take a while to be delivered.

These are available. You just have to do a bit of research

To answer the question if the Cam V3 cable will work at all in the Pan V3: yes, but there are things to address.

I just tested using the Pan V3 using a mounting post screwed into the camera base and a regular V3 power cable. See pictures below. I held it upside down, but it would work any way it was mounted. I was able to pan the camera the full 360 degrees with no issues. I did have to remove the little tightening wheel to get it to fit with the power cable.

Also, keep in mind that if you mount it upside down outside, the weatherproofing is compromised and most likely the warranty will be voided.

Hope this helps.

Thanks @habib, I’ve copied your part type (USB A female to USB micro female adapter) and will search using that. Do I need to look for any additional specs other than B 5-pin, yadda yadda?

Boy, you went all out this this! The info (and time spent) is greatly appreciated.

Tim

No, you don’t. They don’t do anything special, they just provide bypass power and data from one type a cable to another. The last Amazon link I provided has them in stock. If you wish you can order them directly. If you are in Canada do a search on amazon.ca.

Found a couple on Ebay. Thanks for your help!

First I 1000% HATE that wyze put this product out with such a blatant oversight. All that should be included is a cable to adapt to their existing weatherproof extension/coupler for v3 cameras. The pigtail on v3s with weather resistant rubber connection works fantastic. Stick with it and keep it consistent! Include a small adapter to attach to this!!!

I will likely not purchase this camera myself bc I don’t like the limited mounting options. Seems like a poorly executed product launch and worries me that the rest of the product will also not meet expectations!

For a work around I have three suggestions to allow you to use just about any regular micro USB.

  1. Possible option (cannot confirm as I don’t have one of these cameras).

KIWI design Security Camera Mount Bracket, Universal Stylish Metal Wall Mount Fits Ring, eufy, Wyze, Arlo Cameras and VR Rift Sensor, Vive/Valve Index Base Station Easy to Install (2 Pack, White) https://a.co/d/dRV5aWa

  1. Similar to other suggestions, this mount to allow any micro USB cable. with 1/4 - 20 all thread rod added (found at any hardware store and cut to length as needed with hacksaw or grinder).

  2. Use a 1/4-20 hanger bolt if mounting into material like wood.

Or

If mounting into concrete, brick or stone I would use threaded anchors like these. Use steel plate or 1/4 ID fender washer to tighten against while setting anchor.

Hope this helps someone.

WYZE if you see this please listen to your customer feedback. I’m done buying unreliable half baked products. Fix what’s wrong with your existing products before you loose your customer base! Your products are earning a reputation that is not conducive to long-term success and many of the issues are software related. I am personally at the point where I can no longer recommend WYZE products to friends and family.

A million percent I agree with this.

As for the rest, a cable with a Type A F to Type A M connection will fix all.

I just placed an order on Amazon for a 6 foot USB 2.0 M-F extension cable. I ran the included cable into the house through a window, but it is a bit short. When I add the extension, I’ll be good.

I did this exactly, and then used heatshrink or silicone self-fusing tape on the connection to waterproof it. They’ve been hanging outside for a week through 2.5" of rainfall so far with no problems!

Thanks but unfortunately I fail to see how a USB A F to M will fix anything if you already painstakingly ran a micro USB cable through your attic to under the eve of your roof. Maybe a USB type A F to Micro USB. Those connectors would not be rated for outdoor use and likely corrode before long requiring yet more creative solutions to fix a problem that never should have been a problem.

As @wolfcorner suggested, use marine grade heat shrink tubing.

Wyze needs to make a small 3 inch extension that has a waterproof female end (like the back of a cam V3 and the male 90° on the camera side and this issue would be resolved.

@habib You are missing the point completely. There is NO USB type A connector at the location where the camera is/would be installed. There is an existing micro USB that I ran through my attic for my v3 Cam. Even if I did run a whole new type A cable there is no heat shrink that is large enough to slip over a USB type A connector and still seal around the cable itself. Part of my work involves designing and building industrial robots so I am familiar with the idea of heat shrink tubing. If you would like to go this route there are better options but you shouldnt have to be an engineer to install these products. That is kind of their selling point IMHO.

I have heat shrink that fits over it. In fact I’m getting ready to hook em up now.
