Yeah, return that OG for sure. If you’re waiting for WYZE to follow through on a fix, you’ll be waiting months to years. Even when companies bring huge security vulnerabilities to WYZE, it has taken WYZE over a year to plug those holes.
I think I will take your advice and not wait for Wyze to get around to fixing the issue/s

Have you had any issues at all with your V4’s?
I performed some research on user comment on V4’s and did finds some complaints..
My concern, is that I dont want to remove 1 problem only to spend more, and buy another.

Never thought a month later, I would still be wasting my time with all of this, so much for “Plug in and Play”
I just took your advice, Ordered a V4 cam
Will try /check that one, and if all goes well,
then return the problematic NEW OG cam.
My two v4 cameras have been rock solid and are both mounted outdoors. A family member has a couple as well. She is having issues with the LED light on one of them. I just ordered her a new power adapter hoping that resolves the issue. That cam has been mounted outdoors for at least 2 years in a brutally windy location in northern Iowa.
Personally, I use very inexpensive/cheep 32GB SD cards in all of my cameras and have no issues. Granted a couple of SD cards have crapped out over the past 8 years with WYZE, but my failure rate is very tollerable. At one point I rolled the dice on some crazy inexpensive 128GB cards. Both of those died within a year and fell outside of the warranty window.
Now when I buy SD cards, I look at the warranty info. If it has a 3-year warranty, I’ll buy it. Other than those throw away 128GB SD cards, these low end manufacturers have honored their warranty when I make a claim. Granted it costs me time. With my current situation, I have a bit more time than money.
I hope the v4’s you order are solid and exceed your expectations.

That is great news! I order the V4 yesterday, Amazon was suppse to deliver it the same day between 5-9 pm…Then today, I checked where is it? Opps we are running late on delivery..
Now there is no distinct delivery day/time.
The same thing happened the last time I order the 1st Bad NEW OG cam, and its replacement 2nd OG cam.
Ironically, The amazon orders, are sourced/sold by Wyze, ON Amazon..

Wow, I am a weather hound for years, Iowa receives brutal weather, Winter & summer/spring.
That says a lot, regarding durability of the cams
Provides some comfort.
I do find, if one has a cam for a number or years that faces outdoors/sunlight, the lens gets a foggy look to it over time, not as clear. So I suspect the Sun’s ultraviolet lights start breaking down the plastic…and is why the lens starts getting a haze on it..
I have had 2 cams for some years that have reached this point to where I am going to have to replace them. Not because the stopped working but because the lens degrades over time from the sunlight.
Wow, I am surprised you have had a good success rate with the cheaper cards, I have always used brands like Sandisk, Lexar, or Patriot, and a few others, but I have never tried the many Chinse brands that are now all over Amazon.
So far I have only had 1 card go bad on me, in the last 6 years…I guess that means I should expect some failures soon

And if all goes well with the V4, I will return the OG, unless Wyze releases firmware update/fix soon, As I did receive a follow up from WyzeEng today, saying they are going to release an updated firmware to fix the OG issue…But no release date.

Cam V4 delivered finally, late but deliverd
I had installed it, and all is working well other than 1 issue I noticed during my initial test before installing it in my front window
It failed to detect me, moving in my yard, as an event last night…there was no “marker” in the events…I had to watch another event and let it play through to the time I know I was in the yard. But it did not detect me, as a person, or movement…in the event logs…
Not sure if this has anything to do with needing to subscribe to Cam Pro, in order to detect people, whereas older cam models detect people out of the box.
I understand Wyze is a business, and need to make money, but if this is a change in the detection process, and needing to now subscribe I would not be too happy about that.
Overall, it is detecting other events like the cat that entered our yard
But this moring the V4 cam is in our front ( high traffic) facing window, and I know people pass very often, I clicked on 'person" under events.
And it discovered NONE, but I have watched multiple people pass our front window LIVE view.
If you are not paying for Cam Plus/Cam Unlimited you are not going to get smart detection tags on event videos and there will be a 5 min cooldown period (No event tags) between events. No pay no play has been in effect for a long time. If you ever had Cam Plus Lite or still have it you can use that with a V3 but not the V4.

Yes, I understand what you are saying.
But why would it detect a cars “motion event” and not a “persons/people” as a motion “event”
It should still detection any type of motion,
and label it as “motion” detected
I understand to have a person detected as a “person” detected event
Subscription required.
It is now as if it wont detect “humans” as something that is moving ( motion label- not human Wyze AI motion label as Human)
Or to explain it another way
ALL motion should be detected and labeled as motion ( without a subscription)
( as it does detect cars under the “Motion” event label, but not humans,
event though it WILL Record the human motion just have to hunt for it within SD cam footage. no direct “event” log as motion, for humans.
Next Wyze is going to start charging people, on what type of sounds will be allowed to be detected. And will have to pay extra to be able for the Cam to detect a person screaming. ( most likely a Wyze cam owner )
Just detect anything that moves, and lable each event as “Motion”
and not needing Cam Plus to do that

One just sees a green line, with a number label
I use to be able to see what “type” of Event detection on the V3
With no Cam Plus subscription
Now its all dumped into 1 timeline, with no details. Just the number of Events/detections
That to me is losing features. When one had them before without a subscrition.
I remember the earlier Wyze cam days, “Hey, Want to allow our(Wyze) AI detections of your cam video, just click OK Grant Wyze AI access on the cam video, your cam record, Wyze AI training ID’'ing was free”
Now that the Wzye customers allowed Wyze AI to train itself on our Cam video footage over the last few years,
Wyze now wants to Charge us for the type of detection we want on our Cam’s, That our cam footage over the last few years helped train Wyze’s AI
And at the same time, Wyze now corners us into a box,
and say Hey, you want to be able to Identify cars, people, etc,
you have pay for a subscription.
No subscription, No Video identifications
We wont allow you to identify anything for free.
Even though we allowed it years backs
And Wyze’s AI trained off of our security cam videos
On top of all of this,
I can’t count how many times, we have to re-learn the interface,
Buying “Cheap” cam’s is not always the best option in life.
