I agree, I like the way it worked before. 
For one thing, if you
on an object of interest, it would stay centered in the viewing window as the image enlarged. This is critical, imo. The function feels broken as it is.
Better now to first pull down the ‘zoom bar’ to approximate the degree of zoom you want, then drag the object of interest to the center and adjust.
