Is it possible to have 2 Wyze Bulbs in a lamp fixture?
Welcome to the Forum, @rhythmdog!
Does the lamp fixture have two sockets?
Yes! I have 5 Bulb Colors in a single lamp that has 5 sockets and a 4-position switch (off, 2 bulbs on, the other 3 bulbs on, all 5 bulbs on). I leave the lamp switch in the all-5-bulbs-on setting and control the bulbs mostly with Google Home via the linked Wyze account.
Why?
Curious to learn new tricks.
Why not‽
I don’t know that it’s a “trick”. Most of the smart bulbs I use are in lamps, and some of those lamps have multiple sockets. I want to leave the lamp switch all the way on so that I can have maximum light when I want it, and the smart bulbs need constant power for their Wi-Fi radios, so that means a smart bulb goes into each available socket.
Maybe I don’t understand the question.
The new lamp I bought has 2 sockets in it. Do I need to install them one at a time and add each one separately in the Wyze app?
Nope! You can put all the bulbs in at once and power them up. That’s what I did when I put 5 Bulb Colors into a single fixture.
I don’t know how it is with the non-color Wyze Bulb, but somewhere in the setup process for Bulb Color (I think maybe after I got them connected to Wi-Fi, but this was several months ago and I’m trying to go from memory) each bulb became a different color that made it easier to identify during the naming step of setup. I would expect the regular Bulbs to blink at some point to let you know which one you’re configuring in the app, but you can always change the name later if you figure out that you assigned the “wrong” name to a particular Bulb.
I guess there is no trick. Bummer. I was hoping for something. What, I don’t know. Maybe some enlightenment?
I use two bulbs above my entertainment center. If I want more light, I increase brightness/temperature. My chandelier has only two bulbs on a dimmer switch.
