Love the camera and the motion tracking. I suggest that an update be made so that the motion tracking works better with detection zone.
I suggest that when detection zone is on, only motion in the active zone should trigger the motion tracking. This should reset when the camera returned to its home waypoint position.
Currently, it appears the motion tracking tracks anything in frame regardless of the detection zone.
Detection zone is only for triggering events, it does not impact motion tracking. I’ve mentioned that a separate “tracking zone” and also being able to limit how far it tracks so it doesn’t end up staring at walls would be nice too. You can go add them in the “wishlist” forum (if not there already), but it seems like the logic would be pretty difficult to implement - if it has started tracking something, should it stop once it goes outside the tracking zone? if the camera isn’t in “home” position how does it interpret the zone? etc, etc.
The detection zone is relatively useless when you have track motion or pan/scan on. I just use it to have a permanent “home” position that the camera will always return to even if moved manually.
I did originally assume that the detection zone would stop it from tracking things outside of it, but similar to you, I realized that wasn’t the case. It will track anything in view. Based on the warning that comes up when you move the cam manually with DZ enabled, it seems to imply that DZ only applies when the cam is in the position where the DZ was set
