Motion Detection Challenges

Has anyone else had Wyze v3 and the wired door bell cams consistently catch car lights and waving branches, but never catch a delivery person? I have to scroll for an hour reviewing the SD card to find the footage of the delivery person that the motion detection never alerted to.

The larger I make the motion zones and the more I increase the sensitivity the more trees and car lights I get notified about, but never a delivery person.

I am at a loss… I wish there was a way to capture all motion events to the SD card without a 5 min cooling off period and or camplus. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

I have 3 cams recording my stoop (2 Wyze v3s and a wired Wyze doorbell), None of which capture any package delivery’s . They do notify me constantly of a trees waving or of a cars lights driving by outside a motion detection zone. Then begins scrolling through hours or SD footage to find the missing delivery event.

Cam Plus Lite will add Person Detection to the V3 but it will still be subject to the 5m cooldown. The doorbell is incompatible with Cam Plus Lite.

When you do find the moment on the V3 SD Card Playback footage that the delivery driver came into the frame, record the time stamp. Then go review your Events on the three cams. Is there a Motion Event Upload in the 5m preceding the time stamp you recorded? If yes, the cam didn’t capture the delivery driver because your cams were in a timeout cooldown.

Increasing the sensitivity and detection zone on cams with no subscription only magnifies the possibility of missing key events because doing so increases the number of motion event uploads and therefore increases the freequency your cams are placed into timeout cooldown rather than patiently waiting for the next real event to happen.

Cam Plus, however, can be tuned with high sensitivity and open detection zones because there are no cooldowns. The cam can upload back to back video constantly. I have Cam Plus on handfuls of V3 and a VDBv1. I have no detection zone set and have them at sensitivity 75 or higher. I allow the cams to upload all motion events, but I have notifications set to only alert me if a Person is identified. In the Events page, I have filtered out all untagged motion events and only see Smart Detection AI Events.
