So I’m confused about the cam pan v3 camera I just bought. This is my 4th camera from Wyze but my first outdoor camera. I purchased Cam Plus to help with the AI detection but now I’m starting to wonder if it’s even necessary. I have a bush that sits right between my front porch and driveway. Every time the wind blows the leaves trigger a motion event and a vehicle event. Yesterday, Amazon dropped off a package shortly after one of the “wind blowing vehicle” alerts was triggered and recorded. My video captured the truck pull to the edge of my detection zone but never recorded the person walk to my porch. It then caught a glimpse of the delivery person getting back into the truck and driving off. With Cam Plus, my camera is set to record Smart events (Person, vehicle and package). So my question is why didn’t my camera record the entire motion event of the person walking through my yard and approaching my porch to deliver the package? Is there still a “cool down” period because of the prior wind blowing event that happening right before Amazon pulled up? I thought the SD card and Cam Plus eliminated that. I’m soo confused and wondering if Cam Plus is necessary or if I need to have Continuous recording on to catch these type of events. Any help is greatly appreciated.
What are your detection and sensitivity settings? what’s your detection zone look like? With cam plus there is no cool down, but motion needs to break your set thresholds to start recording an event, and then remain moving enough to keep the event going. Have you blocked out the bush with the detection zone?
For troubleshooting, i’d allow to the camera to record all events just to see what all the camera can detect, then once that is known, to start setting up more things and move down from there.
SD card local storage and cam plus cloud recordings are separate and independent functions of eachother. You can have one, both or nether at anytime. It is good practice to have both to serve as a backup for eachother though.
Thank you soo much for your response! My detection zone does block out the bush, but from what I read, the zone lines aren’t hard lines. So in order to have an area of portion of my porch and driveway included, some of the bush branches spill into that zone when the wind blows.
My sensitivity is set at 35. I’ve played with the slider quite a bit and nothing seems to work for the wind blowing aspect. 35 seems to track motion good but as I stated about the Amazon driver, the camera must have stopped recording from the time he parked out front until he was walking back to his truck. It missed everything in between and only caught a snippet of him driving off. The same happened as I was talking to my wife in our front yard. The camera recorded for about 30 seconds and then stopped (maybe because we stopped moving) and then recorded again as we were entering the car to drive off. So that’s the confusing part. It seems it could miss some valuable data if it only records in short intervals.
