Monitoring & Snooze Don't Work Together

HELP! @spamoni @WyzeJasonJ

MONITORING OVERRIDES ALL AUTOMATIONS AND SNOOZE BELL! When Wyze app added “monitoring” tab, it was great because it allows to set “Critical” push notifications to bypass “Do Not Disturb” rather than doing it in OS settings. HOWEVER, it DESTROYED “Snooze” Bell and Automations!

Example: Say Monitoring is set to “Home”. My partner is asleep, and I want to go to the mailbox to get the mail. If I change monitoring to “Disarmed”, it sends a push notification that bypasses “Do Not Disturb” on phones and wakes my partner up. If I go outside, cameras send push notifications that bypass “Do Not Disturb” and wake my partner up.

If I push the “Snooze” bell, it doesn’t matter. It’s now non-functional. Has been for serveral months. Newest app push added “Snooze My Cameras” Automation. Monitoring overrides all Automations and they don’t matter. Right now, I have three options: Wake everyone up? Or train everyone to ignore security alerts? Or have everyone turn off all phone sounds. I have 36 Wyze cameras on plan…and they’re now all a pain in the…

I will see if there is something about this for you.

However, I think the notification is phone / app specific. I can test this out as well. If this is the case, then each person in the house would need to set there app up accordingly.

I do know when I set mine up, if I toggle the Bell in the app to off, I get no notification even though I have notifications set to override Do not disturb.

But will do a few tests and see what I come up with.

Hopefully, @WyzeJasonJ can provide some insight on this as well.

@spamoni Mine used to work that way until about two months ago when I downloaded and installed the newest app and it had the “Monitoring” tab on the bottom. Ever since then the Monitoring tab overrides the bell and the automations; including the new “snooze my camera” automation.

It is not phone specific. It didn’t do it on my old Moto G Power, although since the addition of monitoring, it now does it on my wife’s new Moto G Power. I now have a Samsung S24. It does it there as well. It also does it on my mom’s iPhone 5. So that data says it’s not phone specific.

I can tie it to the very time when “monitoring” started. I broke my Moto G7 power and had to get the Samsung S24. When I downloaded the app fresh, it had the “monitoring” on it. Then I downloaded the app update on the other phones. Now, the bell and automations don’t work anymore and I can’t get rid of the “monitoring” to “go back”. @WyzeJasonJ

I am reasonably high-level technical and write code. Some code in the monitoring feature is overriding the “snooze” bell and the “snooze” automations. I really like that it automatically overrides “Do Not Disturb” so that I don’t have to set it up on the OS (System setting for notifications) on every different phone. But I need the snooze back. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the added info. I never used Alexa for anything other than person, so was not aware of what the other options were.

@spamoni @WyzeJasonJ Hopefully the extra information helps troubleshoot. To be clear, I’m not using Alexa or any similar home system. Just the phone app. On three different phones (i.e. one Moto, one Samsung, one iPhone) With both Android and iPhone OS.

Have done all the troubleshooting things (e.g. uninstall/reinstall, etc.). I think this is a “relatively” simple code fix. Hopefully getting a trouble ticket in front of the right people will help. For a 36-camera, two-property array, it’s more than a minor pain. I appreciate the help. Keep me posted as you’re able to push it forward.

Sorry to mention Alexa here, I mixed 2 responses.

@spamoni No problem. Just more information to make sure someone is able to zero in on this. As a coder, I know that the more specifics one can give troubleshooting, the easier it is to laser-in on the line that’s busted.

Yea, I am a coder as well, and share your sentiments.

As you may know, I am a volunteer forum member and pass items to Wyze when I can. I will reach out and see if we can get a response.

Much appreciated, bro.

@spamoni @WyzeJasonJ Interesting data point: Yesterday, “Monitoring” was set to “Disarmed” for all cameras. I was moving in and out of the view of 6 different cameras. Only one kept sending me push notifications regardless of whether “Monitoring” was set to “Disarm”. Monitoring continues to be “buggy”. Happy Easter, all!
