Hello all. We seem to have misplaced our tool to get our doorbell camera off the plate to charge it. Any other Allen wrench we have that might work are either slightly too big or too small. Any suggestions on what could work or maybe replace it?
Thanks all!
Are you talking about the Doorbell Detaching Pin for the Duo Cam Doorbell? From the looks of it a SIM card ejection tool (shipped with many phones) or even a paperclip should work, I’d think.
If you’re talking about Video Doorbell Pro, then apparently what ships with that is a T8 Torx driver. You might get a hex wrench in there, but that seems iffy and won’t engage the screw head as well as an actual Torx driver will. I have an inexpensive screwdriver set that I keep for things like this, and something similar shouldn’t be too difficult to find, I wouldn’t think.
I use a paperclip.
Thats a good idea. I’m assuming a small one? Thank you.
I’m still unsure which product you’re having difficulty with, because your post mentions a tool for a doorbell, but you tagged this topic with battery-cam-pro.
It’s for the pro. Thank you for your help.
The paperclip didnt work. Boo!
You’re welcome. Like I said before, I think you’re going to need a T8 Torx driver if you’re trying to release the security screw. You mentioned an Allen wrench, which has a hexagonal cross section for the drive head, but I think what you’re really looking for is something to fit the 6-pointed Torx head , so I’d plan to track down a driver specifically for that.
I misread the topic, I thought this is about the Duo. Anyway, this is what I use to open the battery compartment.
I was unclear about that, too, which is why I asked for clarification. The clue for me was that @Roni reported trying an Allen wrench (and I suppose a small enough one of those could be used like the Doorbell Detaching Pin for Duo Cam Doorbell), so I think the search is for something to engage a screw head with a 6-pointed (Torx) tool rather than a 6-sided (hex/Allen) tool.
I’ve also asked the Moderators to re-tag this topic with video-doorbell-pro.
It actaully says that in the topic of my post. Or under it. Thanks to you both. We’ll figure out something.
