Miserable Wyze bulbs

good info, hopefully it will help someone having similar issues…too many people complain about their connection not knowing it’s probably their old network equipment.

I’ll buy them. How much?

These work great to prevent others from turning them off:

light switch guards

If you have the new Decorah lights that are flat these work well too. If you have the new Decorah lights that are flat these work well too.

I déjà vu reading that post

Adding my experience to the conversation, my setup includes two bulbs in the master bedroom, controlled by a wall switch. Three in a bathroom also controlled by a wall switch. One in a den floor lamp connected to a smart plug, another a living room floor lamp connected to a Wyze smart plug.

I add the bulbs to the app and tune the color, that’s all I need them to do. I know it’s not an interesting use. The color I set survives being powered off by a switch, and even survives inadvertently entering setup (the kids playing with the switch, powering on/off) by just shutting them off and back on again. However, at that point they are no longer connected to the Wyze app, not a big deal for my use case. The ones that stay connected to the app will indicate when a firmware update is available and I’ll add the missing bulbs again to update the firmware.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but simply powering on/off quickly two times will reset the bulbs, it doesn’t seem to matter how long you wait to turn them back on. Perhaps increasing the number of required power cycles, five perhaps, could help reduce having to re-add the bulbs.

I’ve never gotten the bulbs to work. I can get two to work from one fixture, but as soon as I add more to another, the first two drop. Lather, rinse, repeat, ad infinitum. I finally gave up. They’re currently working as light bulbs on a physical switch, or rather, as very expensive light bulbs on a physical switch. I am able to adjust the color temp on one set, so I guess I got that going for me, which is nice.

Thank you!

I tested this yesterday. I encourage you to try it too. Power on/off 2x, and leave it off. Come back and power it on 10 minutes later and it will pulse, ready for setup.

I count that as 3 cycles? Twice, then a third time?

 OK, count it as 3. The third is just to power it back on to setup the device. My point was that after two power cycles it is irreversible, it will reset and enter setup with the next flip of the switch, which seems too short to me.

I haven’t tested mine, but if two quick switch flips and then another ten or fifteen minutes later counts as the third, then yes, that should be corrected by Wyze. Usually devices I’ve encountered, whether it’s smart devices or even resetting the oil change message in my truck that requires doing something 3 times, requires that 3 times within a certain amount of seconds or you have to start over.

Tried it yesterday and waited 30 minutes before turning it on the third time and it was in setup mode, flashing.

Yeah, then I would call that a bug that needs to be fixed. It should be 3 times within a certain amount of seconds, like maybe 10.
