Have installed these and love using them, however with the three power on/off cycle to reset the lights, running into an issue with these resetting a lot. The kitchen is a high traffic area and with 6 people in and out of the kitchen all day, this is getting pretty annoying to keep setting up. Anyone run into this issue, or have a possible solution? Would love to keep using the lights, but only a matter of time before they come down if this is how they will always work.
Since these are smart bulbs, they should be kept on and powered all the time and controlled by a smart switch, the app, or some other trigger. Turning them off and on via a standard switch is going to produce a power fail effect that will require them to log back into the network where they will return to the state you specify in the app settings. Do this three times consecutively and they require a new setup.
Smart switch to operate the lights via rules/routines? That’ll leave the lights powered all the time and controlled via cloud commands? No chance of them cruising into resetup mode unless a power outage occures.
I was wondering if the Wyze switch would eliminate the problem? Being able to use the wyze switch to turn on and off the lights throughout the day so the reset option wouldn’t occur? But not sure if the wyze switch acts the same as a standard switch turning power on and off, leaving me with the same problem. I have an Alexa there to control the lights, but of course the wife and kids don’t pay attention and won’t change their habit of hitting the switch.
Yes. The Wyze Switch won’t cut the power to the bulbs. Instead it will send a command to the bulb to turn itself off. The light will go out, but it will remain powered and online. The Wyze Switch does require a Neutral wire.
To compliment @SlabSlayer s reply, here is a screen shot of the actual switch setting.
There is also a double press, triple press and long press options for activating actions.
