Make "Anti Peep" More Robust on the Palm Lock

The “Anti Peep” feature advertised let me “hide” my real code inside a longer PIN. For example, if my pin was 3210, I could put it inside a longer pin of 67321089. This isn’t really a prefix/suffix thing that’s added, it’s simply a longer PIN that the owner creates. I had anticipated that the Palm Lock would have a previx/suffix established (per the example above: 67xxxx89) that would be established and then the user would have their four-digit PIN that would be inserted into the “Anti Peep” feature, requiring users to enter the longer string. Back to my first comment of using Alexa to open the lock, the way this is implemented, it means I’d also have to speak a likely 8 digit code. In short, I’m disappointed at how this was marketed and I hope that it can be remedied in a more comprehensive solution in a future release.

Can you clarify with me a little bit about what exactly you were asking for? How do you want it to be more robust? Do you just mean to be able to speak a much longer code to Alexa and Google?

I was under the impression that Google and Alexa used their own pin system to initiate their API. I know on at least one of them I had to set a special pin for their system separately from the Wyze PIN (though they would allow me to enter the same code for them as well, it wasn’t stored by wyze in any way, it was stored solely by Google or Alexa) and it did not support anti-peep stuff, and it was not Wyze’s fault in that sense As I’m not sure what Wyze could do about it. If the other platform doesn’t support anti-peep features on their platform.

I believe that currently the lock allows you to enter up to 20 digits total As long as your code is somewhere within that sequence. Somebody told me that they were concerned that people would be able to tell what their code is based on which buttons were pressed and had fingerprints smears on them. I just told the person to press every single number every time they enter their PIN and then include their pin within it, then nobody can ever tell because every button on the display always gets pressed.

The only real way I could see them make it more secure to use the pin pad is to allow an option to rearrange the numbers in a different sequence every time. But using up to 20 numbers at a time Will make it almost impossible for anybody standing behind you to memorize your code. That is the main purpose. Unfortunately, nowadays there are so many pinhole cameras or secretly recording from their phone, or a lot of glasses and sunglasses have cameras so they could richard your PIN over your shoulder, and even if they can’t memorize the full 20 numbers you’ve put in, if they record it, they could just enter in that entire full 20 number sequence and it would still open. I personally would just suggest avoid using a PIN codes if anybody is around. They can’t copy your palm print, so that’s the way to go if you’re concerned about security.

But I’m open to other suggestions of ways they could make this more Robust. Can you elaborate and clarify for me? I’m just trying to understand. :slight_smile: I like hearing other people’s ideas. I often bring them up for other people in the "Ask me anything* events on Reddit. And they usually have one for Wyze week every year, and that event is this week, so It could be a good time for you to bring it up during their AMA event with the employees.

The Anti-Peep and Alexa are two separate issues. Wyze’s Anti-Peep “feature” simply means, in essence, make a longer PIN. It doesn’t seem to have any “intelligence” such as “enter a string of digits and as long as your 4-digit PIN is in there, I’ll open the door.” It’s just a longer PIN.

My suggestion is to add some intelligence, such as you have described.
