As I’m reading your post my Echo Show 8 is currently updating itself. Not sure if that’s the fix or if it was on Wyze side of the field. I will test after the update is finished.
Mine is now working just fine, no more loud noise. Thanks to all for the help .
Confirmed. No more static / buzzing sound on my Cam V3 when viewing with Echo Show 5 (1st gen) and Echo Show 8 (1st & 2nd gen). Thank you.
This is great news. Kudos to Wyze team for a quick resolution to this issue. I will re-enable all my Alexa display routines tomorrow morning and look forward to static free results.
THANK YOU WYZE!!!
Fixed now, thank you wyze people! And thank you to all who spoke out for action, everything you did to help. Mine was a 47 minute phone call, logs and all but I am happy it’s fixed now.
Thx so much for resolution and support.
BTW, is there a way to know why or what was the “root” reason of this week of hell?
With all due respects plz.
Thank you.
With all due respects…
Is there a way to know why this massive screwup happened??
Many using for “CHILD” monitoring.
Lotsa STRESS involved.
Possible Lawsuits.
The others wanna know also.
If Wyze silent, Courts may be involved.
Stress main debate.
All is well that ends well. Back to normal.
@scouzi - not the best response to post if you are expecting a reply.
Surely, you were just kidding or maybe a little bit annoyed like many of us.
Note, I am not speaking on behalf of Wyze here. I do not work for or represent Wyze in any way.
I am speaking in generalities as a multiple-business owner myself who has gone through litigation, and as someone who used to work as a legal assistant for a law firm, and I can now nearly promise you that this has single-handedly nearly ensured they will never answer this question now. Any medium to large company will have policies to refer such situations to be handled or decided by their legal team and any legal team worth their salt will absolutely forbid them from answering or interacting about the cause anymore, regardless of what the answer would have been. They could be 100% not at fault, maybe it was something on the Alexa end for example, but any response they give is now a liability, and the best course of action now turns to risk mitigation. We almost definitely will never know the answer now.
Never try to coerce information from a business by making legal threats. It isn’t leverage for cooperation, it causes a company to turn the issue over to the legal department and all legal departments know “the less information given, the better.” It doesn’t cause them to cooperate and give more info, not for any that are smart. I can tell you from experience as a business owner and former legal assistant that corporate legal threats ALWAYS force less transparency, not more.
Silence from Wyze doesn’t mean they are at fault (definitely meaningless from a legal standpoint), it means their legal team will be doing it’s job through minimizing liability by avoiding statements that could be used against them in court, even if they know 100% they aren’t at fault or would not be held liable, they will now need to avoid providing any information that could be twisted or misrepresented and cause them more effort to get the correct dismissal, etc. For most companies, legal threats or legal language immediately trigger protocols from a customer support issue to a legal review and require a halt to any transparency. They do not ever scare a company into being more transparent. Basically, literally never unless a company doesn’t have a legal representation or know anything about the law. Anything said publicly can be subpoenaed and twisted in litigation and used as discovery. Even if any statements could now be said with guaranteed legal impunity and purely prove Wyze is 100% innocent…If a company responds to one legal threat, it sets a precedent for others to expect the same treatment, which increases their risk and quickly becomes unmanageable. They might know 100% that they could answer this time and would be innocent, but it would put them at risk in the future when others make future threats, and it might incentivize more people to make these threats in the future. For that reason they will almost definitely be told to stop responding now. Legal threats don’t EVER open doors, they slam them shut. It might work to threaten legal action on the average individual who doesn’t know anything about the legal system and doesn’t have legal representation, etc, but it does the opposite to larger corporations. Their policies almost always force them to suddenly go closed channel when these things are brought up.
If transparency is the goal, it’s often more effective to approach companies as a concerned customer rather than a potential litigant.
But again, I don’t speak for or represent Wyze in any way. I am just responding as a multi-business owner and a consultant and former legal assistant who also deals with these situations and every single company I know has policies to go closed-channel in this kind of situation and do the opposite of be transparent. So please keep that in mind for the future. We normally appreciate Wyze for being more transparent than most companies, and it’s frustrating when their hands get tied to force them to stop it.
Noted.
Yep. Very very well said. There’s no plus for Wyze to explain it to anyone regardless.
Indeed very upset.
My daughter’s kid doesn’t wanna sleep in her room anymore.
Completely spooked.
…hmmmmmmmmm
Needless to say, she got rid of that thing and getting another brand.
You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
This is real life, day-to-day life.
Your metaphors are understood but, irrelevant to heal the damages.
No need for philosophy here.
This is an American company.
No matter it outsources its hardware/software.
Damages have been done.
I/US WILL accept an APOLOGY.
…and some kinna explanation on WTF happened.
Thank you.
As for your testimony @carverofchoice, although you claim not being involved, It shall be retained. Thank you.
I had a Baby Monitor when I was born in 1951, I called it Mom.
What’s that got to do with anything?
Apology from whom?
Now you’re making threats and continuing to talk about lawsuit nonsense?
You’re not getting an apology from anyone, no crime was committed against you, there was no wrongdoing or malice, no “damages” were caused. Things malfunction, it happens. Now you’ve ensured there will never be any explanation of what happened. If your grandkid is really that traumatized by some random noise, there is some other issue going on there.
How old is this kid to be spooked by a static noise?
Agreed!
Unless you are a lawyer, good luck finding any lawyer or firm that would take such a case. Especially, since the issue was resolved in a relative short period of time. Your focus and time are misdirected.
Time to move on, this issue is closed.
