Long-range Mailbox Sensor/Camera/Alarm

Good to hear. I need to look into it.

Highly recommend. You need two parts. A Hub, (~$21) and one motion sensor, (~$19). Range is easily 1,000 but up to 1/4 mile.

(feet, 1,000 feet. forgot that)

Thanks. I did not know that. I should read up and make a purchase. Is Amazon a good enough reseller?

Amazon is the best. Cheaper than Yosmart.com And they bundle some items that bring down the overall prices.

Yolink has a glass break and shake sensor, that has that 1/4 mile range. Great item to put inside your car or truck in your driveway or on the street. Select the sensitivity that serves you and it will alert you if someone starts sawing your catalytic converter off your car.

Any other items you recommend? I need to get up to speed. Got to research tomorrow. Thanks. Past bedtime here on the east coast.

Just saw your add-on.

Their motion and door/window sensors are excellent. Batteries last a long time.
Including their outside gate/door sensor that is waterproof and their motion sensor or driveways, sidewalks and around the backyard for pesty visitors.
I particularly like their “garage series”. They have a Garage door sensor that uses its vertical/horizontal position to alert you to status of the door open/close. And you can create automations/Alexa routines to alert you if its been left open or open too long. Reliable too.
They also have a suite of auto water closing values that will shut off water for you.
All their devices connect to each other so if you lose Internet, stuff still works.
Only thing that I dislike, is their camera protocol is WiFi and not their usual LoRa (Long Range). WiFi for their camera is no better than anyone else’s and might as wll use Wyze for less $$ since it too is WiFi and not the 1,000 foot range.

I have a lot of YoLink stuff, like @Sam_Bam mentioned. I have door sensors linked to light switches so they turn on the lights when you go into the garage or my shop. Outdoor motion sensors to turn on lights via Home Assistant. A motion sensor in my mailbox. I also have the speaker hubs which can make customized voice announcements. I have one smoke detector in my garage above my PV inverter and batteries.

They all work well. YoLink is working on a local hub with cell phone backup which will handle automation without the need for an internet connection. I have one but it isn’t ready for anything yet. Too many bugs.

Thanks @WildBill and @Sam_Bam .

Upon initial research, I found I need to watch some videos. I am sure Yolink is a good purchase. I just need to see if I need the speaker hub or plain hub. I was planning on hooking up the hub to UPS, but maybe an internal battery backup makes sense. Also for the mailbox motion sensor, do I go with the indoor or outdoor sensor. The outdoor sensor looks big. I definitely need to learn more about Yolink.

Thanks again for the info.

I would go with the speaker hub since it functions as a regular hub plus allows announcements. If you have your router on UPS, then the hub should be too. Battery doesn’t help if there isn’t any internet. I used an indoor motion sensor for my mailbox since it doesn’t leak in the rain.
