My Pan Cam V3 has been delivering notifications upon triggered events about 35 seconds AFTER the event occurs. This would defeat the purpose of security, when it could have been to late to respond to the event. Anyone has any idea how to fix this problem? Thanks.
That will usually be due to connectivity, either the wifi signal is of poor quality with low bandwidth or your internet upload speed may be to blame.
The event first must get sent from the cam to their servers, then from their servers to your phone.
Power saving features of your phone could be to blame as well but from what I’ve seen even on “normal” battery mode on my android the only time it is delayed is if I’m in a fringe wifi area, and even then it is just a few seconds.
If you’re using the AI detections that will add a bit of delay too while the analysis is done but it shouldn’t be 30+ seconds.
No power saving setting on my phone. Also, I have large bandwidth dedicated to all cameras (4). What really frustrating using Wyze cameras is also the connectivity issue. It takes forever for the cameras to connect (“Step 3”). Wyze products can only be used as backup since they are so unreliable. Also, the AI is so crappy. I got notified about “gun shots” for bird singing.
Not sure what you mean by having large bandwidth dedicated to the cameras. If your wifi channel is congested or the cams don’t have a good signal, which is what your symptoms sound like , your internet bandwidth doesn’t matter if the wifi is having problems.
“AI” is really just pattern matching, for some it works well, for others it doesn’t. I don’t use it other than the smoke alarm detection (since that is free) and once it sensed the sound my washer makes when it completes the cycle as a smoke alarm. Those features can help cut down a lot on false alerts or extraneous motion but nothing is ever 100% perfect.
All my cams (including 3x Panv3s) went through the setup very quickly and I’ve never had any issues with reliability, other than a couple times where notifications weren’t working due to server issues on their end, but the events were still recorded and logged.
FYI every phone has power saving features. How much of it you can configure depends on the OS and UI flavor. But your symptoms of setup taking a long time sounds like a connectivity/wifi issue and that would also affect the speed of notifications.
I have the delay with Wyze, but my Ring set-up is instantaneous (for my neighbor’s house).
Is the Wyze further from your wifi access point?
The only time my notifications are delayed by maybe 5-10 seconds is when my phone is in my pocket in the garage which is basically unusuable wifi, but it still makes it through with that bit of delay. Normally it is 1-2 seconds.
However I am not using “Smart Detections” - are you? That will result in a bit of delay as it has to be uploaded to wyze for analysis then sent back to you once a determination is made. Ring doesn’t have AI detections that I know of so there wouldn’t be any delay there.
