Just curious seems out of 21 cameras I’ve purchased I have about 8 left working seems they work for about a year or 1.5 and die. Also had one brand new one never did work has anyone else ever had this issue? I’d buy 10 more if they lasted longer as I love the app and cams. Thanks for any input
Your usage may vary if these cams are used outside. Most of my cams were purchased in 2019 and still work to this day. I have all 8 of my cams inside a temperature and environmentally controlled house. I only encountered a problem with a OG Telephoto cam. It didn’t work as I would prefer mechanically and returned it straightaway. I prefer to order through Amazon, but occasionally ordered through Wyze.
The cams work fine but I haven’t delved into pan cams, battery cams, outdoor cams or any of their other gadgets.
Just an opinion. I am sure you can find an opinion you will like.
Also when you say your cameras died, make sure that is true and bad power brick or bad power cord is not the problem
I have the OG Cam, with an outdoor AC Adapter. I’ve only had mine a few days though. I hope it lasts longer than a year.
I have 4 Battery powered WCO version one cams that are still in service. I put them in service 4 November, 2020. And yes they all record events every day and night on Cam Plus Unlimited. I normally charge them before they get to 30% which is 6- 7 weeks. I have had two that I have screwed up and ran them down to 0% but they have all came back to life and still work for now.
I can’t afford Cam Plus Unlimited
I pay .27 US cents a day for all 14 cameras (Not each) on CP Unlimited. Everyone has a budget
I have numbered each of my cameras from the time I bought the first one on 2 May 2018. My newest cameras are number 54 & 55 (a pair of V4s) on 5 April 2024. Of the 55 cameras, six have died and I killed one. The newest one that died (a V3) was #32 which lasted 11 months and was replaced by Wyze under warrantee. All the rest are V2s. Camera 1 is still operating, but the µSD card does not work any more. cameras 2, 3, 4, & 6 have all died, but each lasted 3 - 4 years. I 'm not complaining for a $20 camera.
In case you’re wondering, I have a spreadsheet that lists every camera, when it was activated, what firmware it has, what the µSD card is (and the card number for newer cards), where that camera is used, which WiFi it’s on, if it’s shared with anyone else, and any other notes. Notes would include when and how it died.
I do the same thing with my five v3 cameras. My first camera is named 1. My most recent is named 5. If I need to know the exact activation date I can find it in Device Info in Settings of each camera.
My budget is zero because i’m waiting on my disability. I filed over 6 years ago.
A few years ago, I received a guaranteed acceptance credit card offer. I entered $0 income. They approved it (they have to) and every year they ask me to correct that zero income, despite monthly charges getting paid on time.
It took me 26 years to get my VA disability changed from 30% to 100%.
$550 a month to $3984.00 a month tax free plus I got back the $550 per month that they were taking out off my regular military retirement check and using to pay my disability. Criminals all.
I have 4 Wyze v2 cameras that I installed in 2019, they are mounted outside a house but under the roof overhang so not directly exposed to rain but exposed to temperature and humidity. It gets down to -20 degrees C here in winter.
In the last 5 years I had to replace 2 power bricks (Not sure if that’s because we use 230V here or they just reached the end of their life) and two of the SD card slots no longer work. The cameras, however, are still very much operational. In the last 5 years I had to do a hard reset on one of them as it wouldn’t connect to wifi, other than that no issues.
I’d say that’s not bad for a $20 camera.
Wow. That is a lot of Wyze cams.
Luckily I escaped the US Navy without getting disabled after 8 years of service. I am glad you were compensated.
lol what company was that? I wanna try it
It took my Mom 5 years to get her disability approved. What chaps my hide is that drug addicts and people like that can file for disability and get approved within 2-3 months, but people like me who actually need it and actually have been deemed disabled and completely unable to work, takes forever. I have Spinal Stenosis, 2 buldging discs in my lower back, and I have neuropathy in both legs & feet. I also suffer from epilepsy, too
I haven’t seen similar offers after that. I’m sure they learned from my case. Even my credit union doesn’t have guaranteed acceptance offers even after decades of having an account with them.
I’ve had 3 of 22 camera go completely dead over the last 3-1/2 years. Two of those were in the last month. Recently a cam died and so I replaced it with a new camera. That one started making popping sounds and the plug to camera was hot. Realized too late, it was the Wyze power supply.
I’ve had those PS go bad in past but usu. they just stop producing power. Now waiting for a USB Tester from Amazon.
The v2s are crazy durable. My experience matches yours (including SD slot failure) except temps no lower than mid 40s and two of them DID get drenched internally, dried out and kept ticking (but for the SD slots.)
Two v3s in same position for a year truck on without a hitch so far…
All of my five v3 cameras are inside looking out through windows. My oldest v3 is three years old and still going strong.
I have not had a v3 camera, power brick, power cord or SD card die yet.
