I saw there was an app update and quickly installed it … Hoping that Wyze had reinstated the slider.

But no - still no slider!

Wyze obviously don’t think that they have made a mistake removing it.

Arggh!!! - I’ve done it now!

I think I will start looking at a replacement for Wyze - beyond a joke now.

Trouble is I have built most of my cameras into wall lights so will have to start again.

Now I’ve read some of the problems it seems that the detection zone grid had disappeared for some users. I have still got my grid BUT I dare not change the settings in case mine disappears

Wyze are messing up big time lately - it is difficult to find any reason to stay with them.

Trying to find the post with the most appropriate detail for me. I want to have the time slider to review videos from x hours ago. Like you said, an animal triggers in the first few seconds and then is gone. Or, I want to go back a few seconds in the middle of a video while watching the event (not live). I don’t have sd cards in all my cameras, so now I have to spend money outside of Wyze just for playback of triggered events?

Since you have no uSD Cards, you only have two video options. Both are cloud based (assuming you are not using a Wyze Cam Outdoor)

  1. CamPlus Lite: This will record a 12 second video to the cloud and then post it to the Events Tab once the 12 second recording has completed. CamPlus Lite has a Wyze imposed 5 minute lockout\no recordings ‘cooldown’ between recordings. So, you only get one 12 second video every 5 minutes so long as there is motion. You will have Person Detection AI also.

  2. CamPlus: Full length Events videos in the Events Tab (from motion start to motion stop) up to 5 minutes (if motion is more than 5 minutes it starts another event). No cooldown, back to back events. Full Smart AI (people, pet, package, vehicle, and soon friendly faces).

In both of these, and the discussion topic of this post, if you click on the notification for an event or on the event thumbnail in the Events Tab while it is still recording, you see Live View with NO time slider controls (that is the change we are not supporting). You will have to wait till the end of the recording to open the recorded Event from the Events Tab to view the Cloud based video and get time slider controls when it opens and plays.

But… If you want to review video from X hours ago, you will need a uSD card. The Cloud based Events Video from above are not continuous record and don’t always pick up everything you might want to review. It does save them for 14 days in the cloud, but sometimes they miss motion or AI or start late \ end early. They are great to have because Event’s are the only way to get notifications of motion on your phone. They suit their porpoise most of the time, but not all the time. The uSD will not send notifications but will capture everything if set to continuous and are a really reliable fall back video record when the Events videos don’t give you all you need.

When viewing a Cloud based Event video from the Events tab, there is “Playback” button on the screen that will launch you directly to the uSD card video for that timestamp. Very useful function to get the uSD video.

I would highly recommend uSD Cards… High Quality High Endurance cards specifically designed for Continuous Record in Security Cams and Dash Cams. The cams can use 32gb, 64gb and 128gb cards without problems. At 256gb and above, there have been reported issues still being worked out.

I am using 32gb HE uSD Cards on continuous record @ SD quality and get about 7 days history. HD quality video will cut that in half.

I have camplus lite and have both v3 and WCO cameras. This is very frustrating with the lack of communication impact to the user experience.

I agree - it is causing me real problems but hardly any communication from Wyze… And the very few comments from (mainly) @Xchen doesn’t give me any hope that they are going to restore what they took away.

Agreed. Users were not in the consideration matrix when this change was made. Theories abound :dollar:.

But, you should have a time slider for all 12 second CPL videos in the Events Tab… Up to 14 days ago. The number of videos you see in the Events tab will depend on your Event Recording settings and your Sensitivity settings (all motion vs Smart AI, high sensitivity vs low) and your Events tab filters. If you are looking for video immediately after one of those recorded Cloud Events, you are out of luck since it is in the 5 minute lockout. A uSD card is the only way to capture video during the 5 minute lockout on the V3.

I can’t help with how the WCO’s were affected. I don’t own them and won’t. I am highly allergic to changing batteries and charging :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:! There are many topics and posts by irate users who’s WCO uSD record\recall capability was fubar’d by the CPL rollout and recent app updates.

Cam Plus Lite had no effect on scheduled event recording to the SD card in the WCO, I could download all the videos I wanted. The new app (iOS for me) has killed that option for now.

I don’t have the slider on any event recording regardless of camera. I get a video in the middle of the night. I get up in the morning to watch. No way to rewind a 12 second video to see what triggered it.

I am on 2.30.1 (10) on iOS, and I can download WCO videos from the previous night.

I can download Cloud Event Videos from the WCO not the videos from the SD card in the camera. I am doing scheduled event recording, motion only.

Need to ask to clarify, sorry… You are getting 12 second videos in the events tab, clicking it and it plays the video, but there is no way to manipulate the time because there is no slider? Or, are you just getting thumbnail images and no video?

Did this just change within the last couple of days for you? If it is the former, I believe it may be yet another glitch\bug with the most recent app update. The iOS update has been very glitchey.

I’m not an iOS user and I don’t update ANYTHING from Wyze because they haven’t put out a bug free update in the last year.

Yes this really makes me :rage: I just took the SD out of the critter WCO as shown above that says files do not exist. There are 671 videos on the SD ,here is just one. Mad that I forgot to turn off that @#$%^&* green tagging box. Prior to the app update I would just click on the events in the cam album, that would download to my iPhone and I would send to myself. Now I have to take the SD out to view.

Would be nice if Wyze had a “Standalone” App for just their camera products :exclamation:

Seems like most the updates are for the other Wyze-Crap :poop: products, I like many others came to Wyze for the cameras and Nothing Else :exclamation:

Have a full version app for everything including cameras and a Wyze “Lite” App for only camera products which would need less updating and only update if a camera issue is addressed.

From a technical standpoint it would also help with application integrations on the “Full” version app if there was no issues on the “Lite” version app when updates for other products break the camera functions.

You make the assumption that Wyze wouldn’t break both apps… and they will still break the Firmware and Cloud coding.

I don’t think the bug introductions, regardless of if they are in the App software, hardware Firmware, or Cloud coding, are a product of the hardware being serviced by the app.

I think it is a product of a non-existent or dysfunctional QA program within the Wyze Company Culture. Absolutely NO regard for stability whatsoever. Too focused on SPRQPoint work philosophy for employees and not what instability does to the user experience. That falls on the COO\CEO and founders alone. Bad form. Would have expected more from varsity lettermen.

I worked for 22+ years in a Zero Defect work culture. If mistakes were made, people died. My standards and expectations are admittedly higher than most based on my career conditioning, but the Wyze updates are 3rd World quality construction.
