Lady: "PLEASE HELP ME!" - Requests videos of [slow] "road rage" incident

While I was standing on my front porch today (setting a last run of my sprinklers for the year):

This woman came running up to me from down the road and across the street on the left side of my FLPro:

running up to my house while yelling to me begging me to help her, so I walked toward her to meet her halfway (rather than waiting for her to run all the way to my porch).

She tells me this story that on Sunday night while she was driving, she had another driver behind her who started chasing her around, honking and tailgating her down my road

…until he eventually rammed her car about a mile away from here in front of a hospital, then he made up an alternative story about what happened to law enforcement and the insurance companies and denied that he was ever even following her at all before the alleged “accident” took place, and she said that he was a persuasive liar so she was desperate to find some witnesses or evidence to prove that he was lying to law enforcement and the insurance(s) about what really happened and take away all his credibility and silver tongue advantage, but the hospital where it happened wasn’t getting her the video footage of her accident like she was requesting of them so she was hoping to find some other evidence to at least prove the guy was lying to law enforcement and the insurance(s) about never following her before the incident and driving unsafely and breaking the 2 second distance law.

At some point my neighbor told her that I had cameras and she should go talk to me because I could probably get her undeniable proof that she’s telling the truth. That’s when she came running across the street yelling to me where I was standing on my porch begging me to help her and asking if I do have any cameras that might still have recordings from Sunday night. This is the moment she got excited as I pointed out my Floodlight Pros to her:

and told her that they record 24/7 and have a large SD card that stores back several weeks of footage, so if it happened down my road recently, then I definitely have it recorded. She was really excited and I let her enter her phone number into a text message on my phone so I could send her the videos after I recovered them for her:

OK, so call me crazy or overly paranoid if you want, but I don’t just blindly hand over my phone to a random stranger under nearly any condition, so yes I am holding on to my phone still and just letting her tap the numbers while it stays in my hand. Besides normal reasons ANYBODY might want to do this (financial, theft protection, security, etc), I actually have legal obligations (government and business) not to allow someone use of my phone…so yeah, I’m not EVER handing my [unlocked] phone over to anyone but my wife. :joy:

This lady was so excited when I recovered these videos and sent them to her (sorry, they are compressed to fit the forum file size limits, but you get the idea):

Nice write-up with visual aids! I’m so glad I run a dash cam with a front and rear view. Although a very small snippet of her incident, I hope it at least corroborates with her story to help out her credibility.

Residents complained about outside agitators (soccer players) driving in to …play soccer… on the open green park land kids used to play football, baseball, etc, on when I was wee. In the residents’ defense, the agitators were maybe less inclined than locals to relieve themselves appropriately. Too much wee makes a big stink. :slight_smile:

…so they stuck big :rock::rock: everywhere foiling agitators and everyone else inclined to gambol about.

Looks really dumb, too.  Pathetic,

Funny thing is this lady was freaking out that she couldn’t get the videos to play because Wyze encodes then so weird, Same reason they sometimes don’t play on the forums here unless Seapup fixes them first. I wish they’d fix that. I had to tell her different things she could do to get them to play and offered to re-encode them for her later today if needed. But she got it working:

That’s great to hear that you got the videos working, (name edited out)! I hope you’re safe. Someone willing to be that aggressive to you and disrespectful to EVERYONE after midnight can be VERY dangerous, especially when you expose their lies and bad behavior. Pay me back by taking care of yourself and taking precautions you need to be healthy and happy and find peace for you. If this is someone you know, please consider this your sign to getting them out of your life ASAP before it escalates more out of control. I don’t really know you, but I wish you all the best, neighbor. :heart:

Yeah the videos that I have recorded from the SD cards never play here unless I run them through a program, WinFF to change them prior to posting. I never tried to post one taken from the SD directly via PC.

Yeah, I’ve commented more than once in the Forum that FFmpeg throws an error when I use it to try to concatenate several 1-minute videos unless I tell it to change the audio encoding. Since (as I understand it) MP4 is basically just a container, one might think Wyze could just chose a more “standard” mix for the audio and video streams. :man_shrugging:

She replied back that my last text made her cry (because of my compassion) because, unsurprisingly, this is indeed actually a domestic violence situation where she left him and moved in with her sister down the street to get away from him and now he’s harassing and stalking and threatening her because she left him, but she said she’s never going back.

Seemed pretty obvious to me, which is why I said to her what I did. Sad. Hopefully this can help her get a protective order or something, if nothing else.

Yeah, I told her to try installing the VLC app on her phone, or uploading them to Google Photos because Google Photos will convert it to a playable format, but if she didn’t get it working then I would re-encode it for her when I got home tonight, but she told me my suggestions worked.

I can’t believe this is still an issue this many years later.

Interesting, few times I have posted videos on this forum didn’t have to do anything to them. :thinking:

All I had to do is hit the download button. Maybe because I am using Apple’s iCloud and it converts them automatically :man_shrugging:
