Kilograms or Pounds for each Scale user

I’m amazed at how long a problem like this can be ignored. I ordered a scale and now my weight is in kilograms and my wife’s in lb. And it can’t be changed. Is this some kind of joke?

That is funny, in a Wyze sort of way.

I’m quite shocked that it’s almost 2025 and this is still unresolved.

This is clearly a bug, you are not delivering a feature that you advertised, stop diminishing the issue and treating it as a wish.

I’ve had the device for less than a week and MOST DEFINITELY would have bought from any other brand that ACTUALLY SUPPORTS metric system for all users. I don’t understand why Wyze sells products that ship internationally without such a basic feature as letting all users choose their own desired unit.

If this is how Wyze intends to treat customers, advertising features that aren’t actually available and not being intellectually honest and accountable for its bugs, I’ll be very happy to check with Amazon how to send this international purchase back. And of course to leave a very detailed review about the issue on the App Store so that other international customers are aware of this.

It’s certainly a crutch, but I think I’ve figured out a way to track weight in kilograms for all users. It works only with Apple: enable synchronization with Apple Health and there you can choose a convenient way of measuring.

Welcome to the Forum, @fernanda.kudo! :wave:

You seem to be addressing me directly as if I speak for Wyze in some official capacity. I do not. This Forum is primarily a user-to-user support community, and I’m merely a fellow user.

As I’ve said before in this topic, I agree that this is something Wyze should remediate, and I believe that they have the capability to do so via firmware and/or app updates. I have voted for this feature. Like you, I don’t understand why such a basic feature still hasn’t been implemented. Unfortunately, I suspect that this is unlikely to be addressed in the near term (if at all), as Wyze has publicly announced their focus on core camera products both last year and this year.

I share your disappointment with Wyze’s imprecise marketing of several products. That’s a conversation for another topic (and I’ve voiced my own frustration in several such topics).

Cant believe this hasn’t been fixed after years. Shows deficiencies in development and customer care. Do they need litigation to put someone in charge of this fix?

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for sharing your insights.

Still waiting for my scale to show Kg for both users 4 years after the first request. You just released Wyze scale ultra, I’m fed up of those upgrades with major problems not being fixed in the first place for previous versions.

Please, once again, update the app and firmware to be able to pick Kg for all users, not just for the main one.

So I had the same problem just right now with a new ultra scale just bought.

I think I found a workaround.

It seems all new shared user get unit reseted to pound not having a choice to change it.

I found a kind of workaround that Ill try again with new users later but worked for my wife. When she was trying after setting her height and age, sex and avatar, next step is the measurement that resets to pounds. I went back one step and tryied to weights myself and showed in pound. Not letting the scale sleep I opened the battery compartment on the back and clicked the button to change unit. It setted to kg and I (still not letting it go to sleep) clicked next on my wife app/phone and she stepped up on the scale, and the measurements came to the app and screen in kg. On the second try the scale recognized her and measured again in kg.

Hope this helps the ones that couldn’t return the scale. I try my dad and mom in this workaround to certify that it keeps working in kg.

@ rarbertin

I take it that 56 likes means that it has been confirmed to work?

The step-by-step summarized procedure seems to be (please verify):

  1. With the scale off, move the units’ selector (battery compartment) to LBS
  2. Take a measurement for the principal user. Before it switches off, quickly move the units’ selector to ‘kg’
  3. Before the scale switches off, open the secondary user’s app, select the scale and take a measurement and it should be in ‘kg’
  4. Let the scale power off, then do 2nd measurements for users and they should still be in ‘kg’

In point (4) above, I’ve added a power off which is a critical point to check that metric units still works for both users.

If this is the procedure that will allow metric results, then it would seem that we don’t loose any of our already accumulated data in the reconfiguration.

Now why on Earth couldn’t Wyze technical staff have conveyed this? In all simplicity, the answer seems to be that they didn’t know / couldn’t be bothered to fix the issue and provide a temporary workaround.

Now knowing this, is anyone willing to bet if they - with this information - will modify their flawed software? I’m surely not…

Sorry, didn’t convinced my mother or father to help with more test. They are afraid of the scale Lol.

I guess I was in my phone and the descriptions of thes steps were confusing, but almost like you described. I have the scale setup to kg in the battery (back of the scale) and in the app with my user, the main user. The way it worked, and keep working with my wife is:

  1. Shares scale with someone through the app;
  2. The person will, on the app, insert his name, avatar, height, and age;
  3. after step 2) you will be asked in the device to step up in the scale, that’s when the problem starts, since you want your measurements in kg and the scale forces the guest user in LB (pounds). So here in this step you just step up in the scale to confirm the bug and if it is in “lb” you step of;
  4. on the app you go back on step to where your inserted your height, avater, age;
  5. While on that step you force the scale pinching it or some other ways it weigths something in lb;
  6. while it’s working, you click in the back to change to kg;
  7. on the app your click next so the app asks you to step up and weight yourself again (the guest actually), and it should be in kg still;
  8. After this first time weight and taking your measurement, the app in the guest device is gonna save in the stats in kg;
  9. New trys should keep coming to that user in kg after this.

TIPs: Some people using the same scale might have some similarities in weight or size, and the scale might mix up who it is weighing. To avoid that, the person who is using the scale can open the app and select the scale before weighing themselves, so the scale will accurately choose the right user to send the data.

It might work with another way of doing it, I just described the one time I did it and worked, I didn’t have another try yet with a new guest user. So I just described the way it worked once. Some steps might be not necessary.

This worked for me, super simple:

  1. Have secondary user open scale on app and connect with Bluetooth as per usual
  2. Open battery compartment of the scale and click the physical ‘unit’ button
  3. Complete a measurement, which should now be in kg on scale and on app

Annoying that it’s not changeable in the app, but the fix is pretty easy!!

Yeah, that works for the scales that have that unit button, but not all the scale models have it, unfortunately :sob:
