Just when I'm about to leave Wyze behind they come up with something

I’ve been asking for a bulb-cam since about 2018. V3 pans were nice, but this will really fill my niche.

/edit-now if they could just get it to communicate over powerline adapters

You’ll be sorry :joy:

Insert Godfather III meme here. (Why did Coppola cast his daughter to play opposite Andy Garcia in a crucial role in the film?? Horrible.)

Since you mentioned Cam Pan v3, I want to make sure you’re aware that Bulb Cam—despite its passing superficial resemblance to Cam Pan v3—does not have motorized pan and tilt:

These are essentially stationary cameras in the same way that something like a non-pan Cam v3 or Cam v4 would be: You adjust the position manually and then the camera remains in that position once you set it.

Wait until tomorrow (midnight tonight?), Wyze is announcing a new non-pan, duo camera.

Where did you hear/see that?

Someone posted FCC filings from Wyze. One camera might be panning, not sure.

Interested to see what they dish out. Not sure if I want to buy another camera, and if I do probably it won’t be Wyze. Not very happy with the inconsistency of person notifications on both Cam Lite and Cam Plus.

EDIT: Case in point. I am at the cottage and I just saw my daughter getting out at home and no notifications on two cameras, one on Cam Lite and one on Cam Plus.

FrankenCam

Twice the lenses to fail and fog up after taking in moisture once the adhesive breaks down in sunlight…

No Thanks

But only one SD card to show, “No video available at this time”. :slightly_smiling_face:

I wonder how notifications would look/sound on it

Weird that they went with like 2.3k resolution, sort of a step backwards (though not really a big difference from 2.5k).

Wonder if there will be a new power adapter or if 2A will cover it.

According to the specs on the product page, it’s 5V ⎓ 1.5A, so I guess less than Cam Pan v3’s expected power draw despite having two cameras, motors, and two spotlights? :man_shrugging:

That page also says that a new Outdoor Power Adapter is forthcoming next month, I imagine in part because the new Cam uses a USB-C connector. My understanding is that a USB-C adapter is available for the current Outdoor Power Adapter, but it’s L-shaped, I think to accommodate Battery Cam Pro, so I’d expect the new adapter to have a straight-on USB-C connector to slide into this camera’s pigtail.

Oh Ye of little faith!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

New product bound to have “some" improvements.

Yeah I suppose I could have looked at that when I was on the specs page looking at the resolution anyway
Since the part that is moving is so much smaller than the panv3 I guess the motors probably don’t draw as much current.
