I have 3 outdoor cameras but not able to view any Event Recordings triggered by motion. When I select Event Recording, I’m directed to the CamPlus sales page. All 3 cameras have SD cards but I can’t see anything recorded from my iPhone app. Does Wyze require users to purchase the CamPlus service to view event recordings?
If you have µSCD cards, you do not need a subscription. However the battery cameras deal with µSD card recordings different than the wired cameras so I can’t explain how to access them as I refuse to have a crippled battery camera.
No, no subscription needed. There is one button to play cloud recordings (which will tell you that you need to subscribe in order to do that), then another place you go to view the SD card recordings. You can’t view the video right from the event using the play button, but on that same screen should be something like “SD Card” and when you tap that, it will jump to the event on your SD card and play it.
This camera is too much of a pain to deal with. so many issues with zero fixes. after 2 yrs of camplus, i switched to microsd card on the v2 outdoor cam. being able to load and play the scheduled recording is a hit or miss and when I am able to view the recordings, most of them are frozen videos after just 4 secs . This I ma sure is done purposely to force camplus subscription. But camplus subscription is a rip off as it doesnt allow no cool down selection which is a known issue and discussed in length in this forum. short battery life and camera going offline every couple of weeks where you have to unplug and plug back in.
No, it is not. But if you’ve made the decision to replace them with another brand, go for it, no point in trying to troubleshoot end of life cameras if you’re going to replace them.
I compared the TP Link cams to the Wyze and liked the image quality of the Wyze better (the modern Wyze cams anyway). That was the most important part for me, I don’t need “AI” detections and stuff like that. If those things are more important to you, then another brand may be a better choice. You need to evaluate what you need and choose whatever fits that best.
i didn’t want to spend money again on cameras as I have 3 wyze v2 outdoor cams already. These are 1080p which is fine. but one issue after another constantly is the problem. I would be keeping if it works fine on microsd card but now another issue is the frozen scheduled recordings. not all the clips are frozen but most of them freezes after about 4 secs of recordings. What do I do with videos that gets stuck after about 3 secs?
I have an SD card icon in the lower left screen when viewing in the Events section, but unfortunately, nothing happens when tapping it. Seems to be just an icon that doesn’t do anything. There’s a download option if selecting the ‘more’ drop down, but that only downloads the still photo.
Sounds like that might be my issue. I have rechargeable battery cameras and not wired.
Yeah the download button is for the cloud recording, which if you’re a non-subscriber, is just a still frame, so not much use.
I believe it was posted in here recently that there is something extra you need to do with the battery “outdoor” cams to get them to record to SD.

Honestly the Battery Cam Pro is a huge step up from what you have, understood you may not want to shell out more money but those cams are old enough it is worth considering an upgrade, everything works better on them. The only catch is that because they let you do more stuff and make them more sensitive, if you want the same long battery life you need to disable some of the new features and possibly turn down sensitivity etc.
Of course wired cams are even better (and cheaper) and a battery bank with solar panel can run them for quite some time (or even just a big battery bank that you charge manually from time to time).
