4 I will not change my cellphone . I can still return the cam pam so let me know what there is to know now please so that i dont discover problems after my window of return is closed .

THanks

I would return the camera honestly. You can get it to work with an old app and old firmware but that is not a long term solution. I don’t know that you’ll find a name brand camera that will have a current app for an OS that old.

What do you mean when you say it is not a long term solution? if the campan v3 works with the app version and i dont change my phone, couldn’t it function like that indefinitively?

If you downgrade to the last firmware that works with the old app, it could work for months or years, nobody knows at this point. They are implementing better security protocols and new features and functionality, and we’ve seen many things stop working in the old app. At some point they will have to totally block the older, less secure connections.

If you want an assurance that it will work forever (or even for a year), unfortunately that’s not possible to guarantee. Not to mention you’ll be missing out on new features, bug fixes, improvements, etc.

I just can’t recommend running unsupported software and firmware as a “long term solution”.

IF you want to try it, you can get a safe copy of the 2.5 app from apkmirror.com.

To avoid having to use apkmirrors installer (annoying), get the 2.50.7.487 version which has a raw apk file you can install. Then go into play store and update, and it will update you to the final version of 2.5 (2.50.9.512).

Depending what firmware is on the cam, you will probably need to manually downgrade it, you can get those files off the Wyze firmware site, and follow their manual firmware update instructions. You’ll see a couple versions of firmware that say they require the 3.x app, so grab whatever is the most recent one before those.

Of course, as I said, this is not supported, is at your own risk, and how long it works is anyone’s guess.
