These are great news! Glad to hear these issues being looked at.
I agree with the sound quality when connecting to the PC and having the meetings.
I have issue with the mute button during Teams, Zoom, GlobalMeeting, or Webex meetings, where when I tapped twice on ear cup to mute, it didn’t actually mute me. I had to click the mute button on the meeting platform/GUI. I like the convenience to not having clicking mute button on the GUI as I have wired headset that have the mute switch on and off. However, the mute function works fine by connecting the headphone to my phone during regular phone call.
Has anyone had the same issue with mute feature like me?
Due to the poor microphone level, I haven’t tried using these during a meeting. So I can’t say if the mute will work or not.
However, I have used them while connected via Bluetooth to my PC to listen to streaming radio. I was curious what would happen if I tapped twice while listening. The headphones beeped twice, and at the same time, my primary monitor (I have a dual monitor setup) went black. The monitor power light stayed blue, so it’s as if the double tap caused some sort of display issue. I tried double tapping again and the headset beeped twice, but the monitor stayed in this state. I waited what seemed like a couple minutes and double tapped the right ear touchpad heard the two beeps and my screen returned to normal.
Luckily I wasn’t on a call. When the 2.1.111 firmware is released that @Brian has mentioned, I will test out the mute during a test Teams meeting incase it effects my monitor.
Have you or anyone else experienced this strange behavior?
Also, it would be nice if the headphones indicated in some way when you mute and unmute what state they are in. I have a logitech headset that has one tone when I mute and a different tone when I unmute.
I’m on W10 and, although my Zoom participants say that I sound OK, my own test (checking audio on the Zoom app), levels are super low with the Wyze haedphones compared to either the computer mic or my previous headphones (H19 IPO MPOW, also BT and noise canceling). I imagine that other participants have their volume turned up, but I don’t know if ZOom tries to normalize the audio among participant (b/c others might then be too loud if my levels are correct).
I do wonder about the impact of the multipoint connections. Initially, I was connected only to the computer and the sound was free of clicks and dropouts. Now that I’m also connected to the phone, the clicks and dropouts are pretty continuous. That might trigger a return for me as music is unlistenable while I’m working.
I’m also having a volume issue regardless of the video chat product I’m using. I’ve tried it on Zoom, Slack and Google Meet and every time, people have told me they can’t hear me unless I speak loudly. On Macs there’s no native control to boost the mic which makes the headphones unusable for me.
I just joined the beta program and was able to upgrade my headphones to 2.1.111. I can confirm that my microphone is now working very well.
Got the 2.1.111 general update today (not beta) - can confirm microphone volume is much improved! In limited testing, people told me i’m coming through clear, but there is very occasional distortion (someone described it as a ‘twang’ sound.) Something i’ll keep an eye on, wondering if anyone else has heard anything.
I love the Wyze headphone sounds but I am having issues with the microphone. I used it on Zoom or MSTeams and got feedback from people that my voice is low. I recorded my voice on my PC and compared that with my PC microphone, I could tell the WYZE microphone is not picking up the sound to the level we expect from a regular headphone.
I am hoping this is a software that can be addressed in next firmware release.
Did you update to 2.1.111? Should prompt you next time you connect to the latest WYZE app - this resolves the volume issue but there still may be some distortion issues.
I am earlier version. Just noticed the new version is available. I will test it will new firmware and share my feedback - thanks
The 2.1.111 update did a nice job with the mic (according to quick tests). I’ll do some more tests as I have meetings, etc, but so far so good. I did see some other issues with the previous firmware which were also addressed… I’ll give those a try over the next few days as well. Thanks Wyze!
This 2.1.111 Firmware update seems to make the microphone work. I’ve only connected to phone calls with my iPhone since updating the Firmware yesterday morning. The folks I’ve spoken with said I sound great and can’t tell that I’m using a headset!
Thanks Wyze for getting this fixed! I have more testing to do with Teams and Google Meets, but I’m hopeful that the microphone will work great there too!
I updated mine to the latest firmware but I have not been able to test the mute feature during meeting call yet. I will do that next week as I’m not working this week (Vacation time but nowhere to go lol)
Please try the mute feature (tap twice on right ear cup) and connect the wyze headphone to the PC or laptop during the meeting call via zoom, Teams or any other meeting platforms. I would like to see if the mute function is working as I found it’s not working for mine with the previous firmware version (I haven’t tried the latest firmware yet). In the previous firmware, I had to click the mute button on the meeting platfrom and unabled to use the mute feature on the headphone itself. Thanks in advance!
These microphone on these headphones sounds like crap. Assuming the lack of audio input level control has to do with the integrated microphone. Is that correct Wyze? Is there a workaround. These are unusable for meetings.
People have reported that updating the firmware improved the low mic levels.
I updated immediately.
It did improve it. Instead of it sounding like a microphone down a hallway was picking up, it sounded like a microphone 5 feet away was picking up.
I updated the firmware and the microphone is better but still not usable quality. Feedback I got is I sound still far away or I sound more robotic or have static. It still gotten better than the first version. Hope you can improve it further
I agree, same on my side, I updated to the latest firmware and the mic quality has somewhat improved but it’s still not good enough, folks on conf.calls (Zoom and MS-teams) still complain that I am hard to hear and sound very distant
