I have an OLD craftsman opener (41a3493-1) and have not had a remote for 20 years. Using only the 2 wires off the wyze box can it work? What two do I context them to, I have black red white and yellow. What do I context the 2 wires from the wyze to?
Well, this is only a guess. But from my experience, if it has a Yellow Learn button, you are going to need to look on Amazon for a Yellow Learn button on a Sears GDO first. My replacement non-Sears remotes from Amazon are $10 each. So, not a big expense. Get it. Program the remote to work. Then, you will need to open it. Use a wire or paperclip to determine which side of the button will open the door when shorted. Now, you know which switch terminals you need to use. Then, you connect the wires on the Wyze GDC to that side of the switch. Simply put, you had to connect the Wyze GDC to the remote, because the Yellow Learn button GDO won’t let you simply short across the wires.
If your Craftsman/Sears GDO does not have the Yellow Learn button, you can try shorting across two of the leads at the side. The black and wire most likely are the two wires that go to the door sensor’s “eye”, so that won’t work. That means you use the Red and Yellow for the GDC. So, before you connect the Wyze GDC, short across the red and yellow and see if it opens. If it does, you have confirmed the two that you connect the GDC too.
