I recently obtained a V4 camera with window mount. It works very well, and at night, I was able to see a stray cat approaching our birdfeeder. But then the spotlight turned on and reflected off of the inside of the window glass. How can I disable the spotlight, as the image was fine without it
Go to your cam’s live stream view, tap the gear icon upper right, tap Spotlight Settings, set Spotlight Control to “Manual”.
Thanks, I will give this a try.
Under Spotlight Settings, I did not find a Manual option
I noticed that, too. Try Settings âžś Spotlight Settings âžś under ACTIVATE WHEN CAMERA DETECTS make sure Motion is toggled off.
Also, since you mentioned using the camera at night, you may want to check Settings ➜ Advanced Settings ➜ Night Vision Mode. If you have adequate light outside the window, you may want to set this to Off so that you’re using color night vision and not getting reflections from the camera’s IR lights off the window glass.
Additionally, on this same screen, you can toggle Camera Status Light to the Off position to further minimize the possibility of reflected light.
Welcome to the Forum, @mallincamusa!
If you’re running Wyze app version 3.0.x or earlier, in the “Activate When Camera Detects” section, toggle off “Motion”.
I just got a new v4 cam, and my spotlight keeps turning on even when I have it set to manual. I don’t have the motion toggle that I’ve seen mentioned in other posts. I’m the iPhone app version 3.1.6.1. How do I prevent it from turning on at all?
To get the toggle you have to be in Auto mode. Once in Auto mode select Customize Smart Detections and toggle all off.
Hi - that doesn’t work either. If I toggle off all detections, it automatically assigns it to be for All Motion Events.
Click Yes on that screen and when you go back select Manual again. That should override it.
Hi habib - that didn’t seem to work either. The spotlight still came on randomly in certain captures.
From what I understand the spotlight only comes when it’s dark at least on mine, but manual setting should keep it off until you call for it. Sorry bro, I ran out of ideas. Hopefully someone else will chime in and help you out.
Mine is set to Manual and it only comes on when I hit the button or one of my automations is running.
@wileske - Do you have an Automation that does this? It shouldn’t turn on if set to manual.
My v4 also works as advertised. I leave the flood off.
Both my V4 cams also work as advertised. I have it set to manual and don’t use it. I have used it in the Auto mode on the sunset to sunrise schedule and it worked as scheduled, I just don’t like it because I have enough ambient light available.
Try and factory reset the cam and see what happens. Looks like you have it indoors so you don’t have to climb ladders.
And make sure the firmware is up to date.
Thanks, everyone. The reset seems to have done the trick, at least for now. I’ll keep an eye on it over the next few days, though.
