The motion activated light requires manual intervention to turn off. How can I set it not to turn on? Have camera in baby room and is too bright
Welcome @Paratusone
Go to the Settings page of the V4, select Spotlight and Turn off the Motion Toggle. This will not trigger the light to come on when motion is detected.
To manually turn it on or off, tap on the live feed screen and in the bottom left you will see the spotlight, tap on it to turn it off or on.
I have two of the V4’s in a surveillance location and do not want to give away their position. I took a 2" long piece of black electrician’s tape and covered over the spotlight. On/off, matters not, nothing gets pass that tape.
Had a customer years ago with a check engine light that didn’t want to spend any money figuring it out. This was before the emissions inspection checked for a MIL. It was a tailpipe test so if it was clean it passed. I told him to cover it up. Out of sight…
My wife requires total darkness so I bought these
I was thinking the same thing, it works on my laptop camera as well:-)
Cheers,
Lyle
on 1st gen blink cameras, people used needle for notification light
truly permanent solution as tape does not prevent light leakage and may fall off
Seems like a missing feature on the v4. I have a couple of v3 Pros and there is a toggle for “Spotlight Control” which allows you to completely disable the spotlight. My new v4 cameras are missing this toggle,
Guess I will hold off on buying a V4. A spotlight would cause issues for my indoor cams.
Under V4’s “Spotlight Settings”, I believe turning off, “Motion”, accomplishes the same.
But doesn’t absolutely guarantee it does not come on. Now with cover, it doesn’t matter, do not see it.
You need a guarantee? It’s a trigger to turn on the light; no trigger, no light.
And oh, I’ve tested it.
You asked a question, so I will ask a question. Why do you care if I want to insure the light does not come on? I said at the beginning my why. Your assurance that you tested it and it is off stays off, doesn’t help me if you are wrong. It causes me some difficulty that I can avoid by using my method.
