I just got my home security startup kit. Installation was easy. My understanding was that when the system is armed to HOME, i should be able to walk around and the motion sensor should just ignore any events, and only the contact sensors (ones connected to doors/windows) should be triggered if they are opened.
Last night was the first night I learned the lesson the hard way. I had armed the system HOME and walked past the motion sensor not knowing that it would trigger the alarm. That’s not how all my previous systems work. Am I missing something? If the motion sensor will be triggered when the system is armed to HOME, then what’s the difference between that and AWAY? Need help as I have turned off the system altogether
That’s was my thoughts too If you arm it, regardless of where you are, the motion and contact sensors will trigger the alarm. So, to disable motion sensor, remove it from the list of sensors to monitor in Home mode

Pretty sure without going back in at setup you can define which sensors will trigger when the system is set to home.
For example I have a motion sensor in the basement that by all accounts I could still have trigger the alarm if home knowing no one would be down there in the wee hours when I have my alarm armed while at home.

Yep there it is… Go into home monitoring system, home monitoring settings, home and away
Edit Home Monitoring
Choose the ones or nones you want to trigger the alarm.
