Home monitoring/ New unlimited pro trial

My home monitoring tab is acting like I havent paid the bill (yeah I know what it looks like when it happens dont judge me) after updating to 3.40 (640) and subscribing to the unlimited pro trial. Under services, it doesn’t even show the home monitoring subscription

Please contact our customer service department and they should be able to get that fixed for you pretty quickly.

Cam Unlimited Pro was made to be incompatible with with the HSM / Home Monitoring.

Personally, this has been the number 1 thing preventing me from upgrading to CUPro. I don’t want to lose access to my sensor settings, sensor arming, or Sprinkler AI.

I think that is their biggest mistake with this subscription so far. I don’t mind that those things aren’t included, but it’s a mistake to make them incompatible and automatically cancel.

If one is Not subscribed to home Wyze Home Monitoring and they subscribe to Cam Unlimited Pro, will they lose the Monitoring Tab as well? (I use it to view four camera’s at a time)

2nd question: If one subscribes to Cam Unlimited Pro, and then cancels (or subscribes to the Trial and lets it expire), does it prevent one from returning to the Cam Unlimited Plan they are currently on?

You do NOT lose the Monitoring Tab. It stays.

You CANNOT change the beeps and noises for the contact sensors when using CAM Unlimited Pro.

Just to add to @Earl.Automation’s response, even nonsubscribers can use the Monitoring tab and the Multi-Camera Timeline View. They get only still snapshots of events on the timeline, but the live streaming of multiple cameras still works.

So basically I have to find a new alarm company if I want to keep unlimited pro?

Sorry this seems a little ass backwards to me.
I use wyze for my contact sensors, door sensors, etc. I like to arm the house when I leave. So, if I want to keep unlimited pro I need to find a new provider for My alarm system? Even though I have all the hardware and a monthly subscription.

That’s like Verizon giving a new phone, but informs me I can no longer get text messages. It’s crazy because wyze LOVES their subscriptions, like it’s their whole businesses model. I’d much rather prefer to have my home protected via an alarm, than have an A. I. Troll me. (It keeps telling me how cluttered my garage is and how my yard is dusty and full of brown grass)

Actually, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you check your subscriptions, you will probably find that Wyze canceled your subscription to the home monitoring the moment you activated Can Unlimited Pro. Hopefully you didn’t have a grandfathered price plan for it…

Close analogy. Except That in this case it’s just a subscription difference and you have the same hardware already. So it’s more like It’s your cable company offering you an upgraded streaming package with better picture quality and more channels, but if you sign up, they cancel your internet service—so you can’t actually stream anything at home anymore and if you try to get Internet back again they charge you the higher rate for Internet because you were on a grandfathered rate they no longer offer and then they cancel your streaming service because you switched back to Internet.

Like .. Why won’t you allow both at the same time? It’s okay that it’s not included, but to make it incompatible and automatically cancel it is absurd IMO. :man_shrugging:

I know multiple people who have said they will never get cam unlimited Pro because they made it incompatible with the HMS. I haven’t decided myself yet Whether I will ever get it or not for that reason. I really want the cool new features, but I don’t want to lose access to my HMS, or half of my sensor settings. That seriously might be a deal-breaker for me, at least until I fin setup a new sensor monitoring service.

I’ve just been waiting for someone like you to come around and post about this so I could tell the employees “I told you so”… Though I’m sorry you’re going through this. If you do try to switch back to having the HMS again and find it’s a different rate than what you used to have, please let me know and I’ll see if I can talk to somebody about that And see if there’s any way we can get you any help.

I think this is becoming the elephant in the room in terms of confused messaging on their products.

I feel like they are going to move that service into Unlimited Pro but just haven’t made the back-end changes to get there… so not ready to announce or start testing that feature.

It seems that most of us are automatically gravitating to the question of: “what is the point of the Monitoring Tab is, if I don’t have a security service attached to it?”

The Emergency Dispatch feature is the first step of the transition I’m guessing. I want someone to try it and let me know how it works.

I am hopeful they will clarify this. I just want to be able to turn the beeps off from the monitoring hub for my contact sensors. I haven’t been able to do that for a couple of years or so.

It’s my understanding that cam unlimited Pro will have professional monitoring in the same way that the cam protect subscription does. It’s also not compatible with home monitoring service. But I don’t believe they currently have any intention of making cam unlimited Pro and HMS monitoring work together. But they should. Maybe once they have enough examples of people like this they will consider it.

But yes, you are right that the monitoring tab will have monitoring for cam unlimited Pro. They have said they intend to add that. However, it won’t support having both cam limited Pro and home monitoring service at the same time. That’s my biggest reservation. But if you put cameras inside your house. You can have them do the monitoring for you. The problem I have with that is that people walk around inside my house at night and then my alarm will go off. So I could instead have the cameras outside my house be the ones that trigger but then if somebody walks by it’s going to go off even though they’re not an invader. I don’t know, I like the possibility of including cameras for monitoring when I’m away from home, but what about when I’m at home? When I’m at home I want sensors to do the monitoring and only tell me when entry points are violated.

[MOD EDIT Some words removed due to Community Guidelines Violations

You are correct. They canceled it with out as much as an [Mod Edit] email.

[Mod Edit]

Wyze needs to let their customers know about [Mod Edit] stuff like this. One would think they learned their lesson about informing the potential victims, instead of trying to fix and sweep it under the rug.

A simple pop up, saying "hey if you subscribe your home is no longer monitored. Would be better than finding out on the [Mod Edit] forum.

In monitoring, hit that arrow at top right, then at the bottom, settings and there are Disarmed, Home, Away automations for each camera, time etc. multi clicking each camera selects mute, notification, alarm etc. of thats what you mean. They may or should expand the automations.

Personally, I self monitor.

I “self monitor” in the sense That I keep my system in test mode, which makes sure that noon light can never send the cops to my house on accident and get me a false dispatch fee. But I do pay for the subscription so that I can have everything work the way I want, including with entry delays and alarms and all of that. Plus, the HMS even integrates into home assistant. So I can just have my home assistant devices also do things based on the status of my HMS. However, if I end up getting the cam unlimited Pro, then I will probably just switch to using something like alarmo on home assistant instead of using HMS. And then swap out a lot of my sensors for zigbee ones. I would prefer to keep most of my stuff with Wyze, but it’s crazy to me they haven’t figured out the compatibility issue. I mean, if I can make HMS work with entirely separate systems and entirely separate devices through a simple automation in home assistant, I can’t fathom how they’re not able to figure it out. At the very least, a simple workaround is to have their system say that if somebody has both HMS and cam unlimited Pro, if either one gets set to armed have a rule that automatically sets the other system to armed too. And if one alarm gets triggered just have them both triggered, if one gets disarmed with proper authentication automatically disarmed the other one too. I don’t understand why they don’t do something like that when I’m able to easily do it in home assistant even without access to their back end. Incompatible within the same company just makes no sense to me at all. You can easily make it compatible IMO with a simple rule to make the monitor state match on both. Problem solved. I already do this to be able to use different sensors and different keypads with Wyze’s system, so I know they could do it with their own system.

I would have tried the free trial just to see it, but was afraid it’d blow cam unlimited away and be a hassle.

I sorta see where they’re headed and for folks wanting monitoring I think it’ll work out and they’ll probably add the sensors back in as it builds. They should address the question, no secrets there I can see.

I don’t have any sensors from Wyze, so it doesn’t matter much to me personally. If I wanted monitoring and I don’t, I could add Noonlight for $10 I think & easy enough in Home Assistant for use with Alarmo.

I got modded hard. Let me try again

If someone broke into my house and rendered me dead. No dispatch, no nothing. No warning, no hey it’s a free trial, but you could die.

I am wondering the legalities of it

I hear you, and it’s something only they can answer. I’m just rambling.

I as a customer have no idea of their plans with this new approach. I’m inclined to agree that the sensors “might” work in the new system. And might not. It appears from current guessing on my part the HMS base station will be replaced by the new monitoring tab etc. and that HMS will still work as it did previously.

It’s similar to what other organizations do, for example when SS2 or original Simplisafe  was replaced with SS3, it still worked and still does, but does not work with SS3. I’m guessing of course about Wyze plans.

Same for the sensors SS2 do not work with SS3 not backward or forward compatible. Perhaps they’re coming out with new sensors also. I’d suggest zigbee or zwave if that has any truth to it.
Zwave LR would be a good fit probably.

Old systems get deprecated and may not be compatible with the new. Regardless, they should support HMS, base and sensors as it operates now, but that’s just my opinion.

I’m not particular myself and like the cameras I have, when a person is a person and some smarter Ai trickles down to Cam Unlimited. If it ever does.

I got burned bad enough with Simplisafe monitoring & crap $cameras$. Never again unless I can also control it in Home Assistant.

I’m biding my time and will pivot if and as necessary. Having guessed all that, if there are a lot of HMS out there with sensors it would be shooting themselves in the foot so to speak not to have some compatibility. But it’s their foot.

IANAL, but it is usually covered in the terms and conditions and there’s no guarantees whatsoever.

Just like cops don’t have to protect you. I’d find those terms & conditions on the Wyze website and read them.
