Home Assistant Integration

I put up my sonoff bridge and 1st sensor last night to replace a wyze sensor. Still have 20+ replace with 5 sonoff in the box and rest to be ordered in batches. I agree. I would have also payed for the api.

What did you end up getting? Any issues? I’ll most likely do the same with all of mine.

I got the sonoff rf bridge and flashed tasmota. the sensors are all sonoff sensors (motion and door). the sensors are about 1 sec slower than wyze I would say. but my wyze is plugged in the vm hosting HA and is using the HACS plugin for wyze. so far no issue with reliability on the sonoff…and at least I am not worried about having to restart HA due to loss of connection to the wyze hub.

@war1000 any reason you got the bridge instead of connecting directly to HA via a zigbee dongle like the nortek or conbee? It should be faster that way

Also I am sure people from Wyze are reading this but I am also in the camp of someone who would pay for local access. Heck I’d even pay the same price as a Cam Plus subscription.

location was the primary factor. I needed to cover about 100 ft by 30 ft lot as my garage is separate from the house. the HA server is in the basement. this way I can leave the hub in the middle of the lot (in the mudroom) for better coverage. With wyze, I had 2 hub, one plugged in the HA server and one in a remote/slave instance of HA on a raspberry.

movement sensors seem to be ok … position sensors are screwed.

it is because the battery holder design is garbage for the contact/door sensors. you have to take out the battery and push in the holder part. then put back the battery. after you close the cover, shake the unit to hear if there is any play/noise for the battery. there should not be as this way the battery will be tight. it works fine after.

Not who you asked but I went with BLE since my phone is always on me anyway. Room Assistant addon with Home Assistant. There is still places I’d prefer motion but its looking like that wont be Wyze. Its a shame too, I like their products but not the ecosystem.

I love Wyze cameras and I love Home Assistant, would love to see an integration between the two!

Wouldn’t hold your breath. Wyze think they’re the next apple and need to close off their system. If you want home assistant integration like half a million other users want as well then you will need to look to something like eufy or others. But don’t worry eufy cams arent much more expensive than the walled off wyze cams.

I do wonder how many [MOD EDIT] pay for the cloud service through wyze though.

As far as I know eufy cam doesn’t have api either. There are some community integrations available but as far as I know they are not easy to integrate to HA. Do you know which one is best? Is it possible to expose the motion/person detection event to HA? I have eufy indoor 2k. Thanks!

I wonder how many [MOD EDIT] hate on a company and their products but can’t seem to find anything else to do but hang out on that company’s community forums.

Hi, folks!

Opening this topic again now that I put a couple edits in for content that broke our guidelines. When posting, please be kind to other people in the community. Calling folks names breaks our Wyze Community Guidelines and does not contribute to the welcoming community that we’re aiming for.

Thanks for your attention!

So, I got the following notice in my notifications:

And I got super excited, thinking Wyze was announcing this is finally launching or launched! So click on it and it said at the top that voting was closed or completed or something too, so I scrolled all the way to the bottom, see that Wyze Gwendolyn has made a new announcement post…I’m basically jumping out of my seat in excitement and anticipation at this point to see that API’s are being released…

Only to suddenly find out it was all about community guidelines concerns recently happening in the thread…shucks…

Thanks mods and Gwen for helping to keep things positive and informative around here. I come here instead of other places specifically because of the respectful and great environment, so you guys do a great job, thank you.

And back on topic…I am still dying for news on those public API’s discussed in the AMA’s…hoping the next Employee announcement in this thread will be that it is now possible for someone to program because official API’s were released to allow developers to create their own awesome integrations for Home Assistant and other great things.

You do know…email digest’s are a thing, right? Someone posts on a topic, one that I have watched or followed, I can choose to get an email to address at whatever time pleases me. It’s not like people just … hang out on forums lol.

Haha, yeah I get an email too. Would be funny if someone was just sitting here waiting for a new post!
