Help Needed: Collecting Device MAC for Doorbell v2 Offline Issue

It’s gone 2-3 weeks without needing a reset this time, so I’m happy. I like the new Duo, and although it can be wired to your existing chime for power, it does not use it as a chime, this one does use the plug-in chime like the V1. That makes me think there is almost no chance of them adding support for the external chime on the V2.

I think perhaps you misunderstand some things about the Duo Cam Doorbell.

It can, yes. That’s one of the settings demonstrated in the unboxing video as well as described in the FAQ:

Sort of. The Duo Cam Doorbell comes with a separate chime, but it’s the new Wi-Fi Chime, which, if used, is set up as a separate device in the Wyze app and connects to your home’s LAN via Wi-Fi. Because it’s not a Bluetooth connection like chimes that accompanied older Wyze doorbell models, it’s able to work with all other Wyze cameras, and this should include Video Doorbell v2. Once again, the Help Center is your friend:

Video Doorbell v2 should work with the new Wi-Fi Chime, which should potentially be available without Duo Cam Doorbell before the end of the year:

Thank you the information Crease! I am very happy to see that it can control my existing house chime, however according to the Wyze Help Center answer to the question “Can I use my existing doorbell chime with Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell?” from Brenda on 10/21, Wyze replied “Instead of using the Wyze Wi-Fi Chime included with your Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell, you can opt to use your home’s built-in chime. It will require a Wyze Chime Controller, which comes with the purchase of a Wyze Video Doorbell v2.” So, really, it cannot as it comes, you will also have to also purchase the V2 (unless you already have one, like I do). I am also glad to see that the new WiFi chime will be able to be used with the V2, if it becomes available separately, some day, potentially. I was referring to the original V1 chime, which I already have and was hoping to not have to buy yet another product to support a feature that the V1 came with (and the V2 did not).

Considering how they touted the ability to use your house chime so much on the V2, I am surprised that rather than putting one sentence on the product page mentioning that , I have to watch the unboxing video, go to a separate FAQ page (not just the FAQ on the product page), dig around the Help Center, and/or review a Reddit AMA.

Yeah, that’s definitely a disappointment, as I noted more than once in the announcement topic:

Wyze should sell the Chime Controller separately.

Since I’ve read that some users have reported success using Video Doorbell v2 without installing the Chime Controller, I wonder if this would be possible (though I imagine not officially recommended/supported) with Duo Cam Doorbell, but I don’t know the answer to that. :man_shrugging:

:+1:

I’m not surprised and have frequently posted my disappointment with deficiencies in Wyze’s public messaging. I imagine with this new release they’re probably excited about the Wi-Fi Chime that’s included and want to promote that feature (I imagine that also factored into the decision not to include the Chime Controller with the new doorbell, because they probably expect most users to opt for the Wi-Fi Chime, particularly because of the flexibility it adds by being compatible with their other cameras), and I think it actually is pretty cool that they plan to make that available as a stand-alone purchase at some point, but I totally think the Chime Controller should be available as an accessory purchase, as well.

Doorbell v2 has been going “offline” continuously since 11/20/2024

Before then it was working fine. I looked at my router and it says that is been active for over an hour. I did notice on the app there is now signal strength but yet my router reports excellent collection. Im guessing there is app update that messed with something.

A post was split to a new topic: Doorbell pro offline

In case anyone cares anymore about this, I still get disconnects occasionally, sometimes I go for weeks and weeks without, and then I’ll get one and then maybe another one a few days later, and then nothing again for a while. Usually I find out because I want to check if a package has been delivered or whatnot, and discover that it is down and has been for some time. It would be nice if there was a setting in the app that would notify me if it hasn’t been able to reach a camera for x minutes. Then if I could have that trigger another device to bounce the power… one can dream.

My v2 doorbell still disconnects from mt att router as well. I had an old dlink i connected just for the doorbell; what a terrible product when you have to rig a specialized network just to make it work.
I will be replacing all wyze devices as soon as i am able.

I would be “yeeting” AT&T out the door. Get your own Mesh Network. You will be MUCH MUCH happier. Cable Company routers are notoriously annoying in their feature sets. There is NO STANDARD in network on routers. They are not all the same by any means whatsoever.

Not familiar with that term. Guess I need to google it.

I like AT&T and I have a mesh network.

I think the kids use it these days… I hear them say it when I yell at them to get off my lawn.

I’m not fond of AT&T as a Cable Provider. Then offer sub-par speeds at very expesive pricing IMO. But I know some folks have no choice on who to use because of Cable Company monopolies.

Thanks. I am out of the loop. :grinning:

I just have DSL in my old neighborhood. I have been lucky from what I hear from my infinity neighbor.
