I purchased a duo doorbell. Hardwired it just like my ring doorbell. I also bought a chime controller so it rings on my existing doorbell. The instructions are vague and do not tell me how to install the chime. When I follow prompts in app it only wants me to bypass it with the white wire. When I tried myself the doorbell was just ringing on its own constantly so I disconnected it but I lost hardwire. Anyone have same issue or know how it should be wired?
Picture attached shows doorbell but wires are disconnected to stop it from ringing.
Need to know which wires from the chime controller go to where on the doorbell chime box
I don’t actually use Duo Cam Doorbell, but I’ve done a lot of troubleshooting with Video Doorbell v2, which uses Chime Controller, so I feel fairly comfortable with the wiring once I have an understanding of what’s going on.
Was it working previously with your Ring doorbell, and did that doorbell require any kind of device to be wired into the chime? (I don’t have any experience with those. Aside from Wyze, I’ve installed only an Arlo doorbell which required a device to be wired into the chime box.)
What does a “before” picture of your chime wiring show? In other words, where were the black and white wires connected?
What are the wire colors where you connected the Duo Cam Doorbell at your door? (This may or may not actually tell me anything, but I’m trying to get a mental image of your wiring diagram.)
Do you actually have a rear doorbell button connected to the chime, and does that work?
Answering some or all of those would be helpful. I’d also appreciate some more detail about what you mean by this:
What was it you tried that didn’t work?
If I had to take a guess about what you want to do at this point, then I imagine the existing white wire in your first photo was connected to TRANS and the existing black wire was connected to FRONT. If that’s accurate, then you could try this:
Connect Chime Controller’s red wire to the chime’s TRANS terminal. Reconnect your existing white wire to the same TRANS terminal.
Connect Chime Controller’s white wire to the chime’s FRONT terminal.
Connect Chime Controller’s black wire to your existing black wire with a wire nut.
