Thanks. Mine actually does. Need adjust it. It seems dependent on having notification on and perhaps subscription to plus? Which we do. Thanks again!
Mine works after turning notifications off then on. Plus we have plus subscription
Thanks for the heads-up! I’m not a subscriber, but I’ll play around with the notifications (and probably have to crank down on the motion detection) and see what happens.
No problem. It worked after toggled off and on. It’s detected way to much so absolutely need to adjust. No notification for button push, but if someone at your door, you get speaker notifications! Progress. Google must have added to the public API that wyze uses.
Was just curious what device you are using? My Google Home settings do not show voice notifications in this screen.
It’s a Google Pixel 4a running Android 13 and Google Home 3.14.1.5, I see this setting for the doorbell (Video Doorbell v2) in a couple of other Android devices here, as well.
Any one have luck doing this with a Doorbell pro?
Im running Samsung S20 FE 5G and have Android 13 and same version of home with no luck on having those notifications. See my screenshot below
I am using the doorbell pro. I assumed you were too.
Nope, I don’t have that model (which is why I’ve followed and posted in the Video Doorbell v2 announcement topic). I think you’re helping to answer @rshahk’s question with your input, though, and hopefully you’ve both voted on this feature. Ideally it’d be available to all doorbell users at some point.
I have 2 VDBPros and neither of them show this for me yet either, but it does show up for me on VDBv2. It is exciting that it is starting to show up at all!
Hopefully it comes for the rest of the devices for everyone else or that we can do something to enable it soon on everything for everyone.
Toggling notifications (in both the Wyze and Google Home apps) didn’t resolve the issue for me, and I did the other usual stuff (restart the doorbell, reboot the Google Home devices, reboot the Wi-Fi), but that also didn’t seem to help. This makes me wonder if a subscription is necessary for this feature to work, as you suspected.
Again, I’m eager to see what input/update @JimmyHa and/or @WyzeJasonJ might provide here.
Wyzejimmy seems to be ignoring this chain. Try cam plus free for 14 days?
I dunno about that. I figure if I “@” him and Jason they get pinged and eventually one or both will choose to chime in. It’s been only a day since @Levistras sparked the discussion (from my perspective), so I think they deserve some grace in taking time to respond. I’ve waited this long, and I still feel like the doorbell is useful, so a few days isn’t going to make a significant difference for me.
I might consider it at some point, as I can see personal use cases for some of the features, but that’s not a huge priority for me, and for now the work-around is getting the job done in an adequate manner.
I have seen the ping but I do not have any info to give yet. That has been the reason for my lack of a reply.
So Google enhanced the public api and wyze was unaware.
One notification that is missing is when the doorbell is pushed. Odd not to have.
@WyzeJasonJ, I figured it was something like that and that someone would provide an update when there was information to give. Thanks for chiming in.
@morgawf1, those are not the conclusions I would draw at all. What I see now for my Wyze Video Doorbell v2 in Google Home is what users of other vendors’ products have apparently been seeing for quite some time, as noted earlier in this topic, so I don’t think that’s necessarily a Google change. Also, @Levistras described receiving “voice notifications on my google home speakers now for both motion detection and doorbell button presses”, so the button pushes are generating the expected voice notifications from Google Home devices for at least one Wyze user. I suspect this may still be a solution in progress, which is why I’m surprised that the issue status is still listed as Maybe Later.
Yeah if I enable this, I get a Chime sound through my google speakers and it says “Someone is at the front door”… FOR EVERY CAMERA EVENT
Um, doing this for the doorbell would be nice. I won’t want a freakin speaker notification every time the camera sees something! Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!
Any updates fromWyze?
I agree, and that would be my expectation as a user. Since the availability of this feature in Google Home seems to be a recent development, and since neither @WyzeJasonJ nor @JimmyHa has offered public comment, I wonder if this part of the integration is still in development on Wyze’s end and if they’re still sorting out the details.
Out of curiosity, are you a Cam Plus or Cam Protect subscriber (not that it’s any of my business)? The FAQ says, “AI Motion detection requires a subscription to Cam Plus or Cam Protect.” My understanding of “AI Motion detection” is that it applies to notification selections like Person, Friendly Faces, Package, etc. that are available via subscription. (Hopefully someone will correct me if I’m mistaken.) Since I can receive generic “Other Motion” notifications from the app without a subscription, I’d like to see the FAQ expanded with a line describing these “non-AI” detection events.
