Thank you
Thank you.
Yeah I saw that but still nothing there as an option.
Wyzejimmy if others have integrated a button push notification then wyze needs to get its act together and do it too. Saying you are integrated with Google home is deception if all I can do is show the video if I ask Google. You need to put a disclaimer on your site and box that makes it clear that your integration if could call it that is extremely limited. Make it clear it does very little with Google Home and if consumers are expecting any useful integration the should buy another brand. Wyze should compensate all the consumers that have been misled. I will likely return and never buy a wyze product again.
Any updates on this situation?
I’m updating items in my home and doorbells are high on my list. But if I’m going to give up my internal house chimes, I need a fair replacement. One plugin wall chime will no cut it. Starting to see a trend with Wyze products that I’m not liking.
My question to you as a Wyze representative is this:
Is this advertised feature from years gone by ever going to come about? It’s been almost two months since your last reply. I’ve worked in silicon valley and I know getting answers from Google doesn’t take this long. So?
My concern & observation:
Why should I or anyone here stay with the Wyze ecosystem if the products are not working as your company advertised? I understand we give up some features by going with a lower priced item. But the functionality that is being asked for is only what Wyze stated was already there. So without someone keeping us updated, the only why I see it is your company falsely advertised a feature to get sells.!
So a update on the results would be greatly appreciated.
The answer is none of us should plan to stay in this ecosystem for long. If implementing functionality for the newest doorbell model with one of the big 2 automation systems (Google) is listed as a “maybe later” item, then we already know Wyze has lost its way with consumers. The main focus now seems to be trying to sell a live service that no one wants with features that don’t actually exist.
Seems like the post from a month ago about Wyze losing its way (in which they claimed really stirred things up in the office) has already been tossed aside. Shame that all the people who have been lied to about this product have no real recourse.
WyzeJimmy anything to share? You can’t claim any real integration. Sure we can nicely ask Google to show the doorbell on Nest Hub, but that’s if it wants to work at that moment. You false marketing says works with “Hey Google” that implies it actually does more than one thing!!!
I hear you. At this time, we are what Google considers certified, and we support the features that they have available through their API. Our team is not the blocker here. We are unable to offer support on our side for features that Google doesn’t offer through their public API until they expose them to us. When we reached out the Google team was unable to offer an ETA on a button press trigger being openly available to Wyze/other manufacturers. I encourage you to reach out to them about this.
please share what email address do we use to “reach out to Google” re adding features
thanks
Why does Alexa have these features?
Alexa has these features because they provide an open, public API for us to send doorbell press events to . The difference is that Google does not supply a public option to send a doorbell press event to them.
Think about this kind of like we have an extra plug that we’d love to send a signal through to partners when you press the doorbell button. Alexa gives us somewhere to plug that in. Google does not right now.
Hi Jimmy! Thank you for always keeping us in the loop.
Is there a way that us as users can submit requests or submit feedback to Google developers to add this feature to their Public API? Might help get the ball rolling on their end so it can eventually be added to the Wyze Doorbell’s feature set.
Thanks,
-Blake
- 9to5google has a list of several ways to give Google feedback here:
- This link is one of the best ones for that because it is feedback they’re soliciting to help improve Google’s products:
- Google Feedback Just click on the “How to use Google Feedback” for instructions/walkthrough.
- There is a way to do it from Gmail too, as described here:
Google lists several appropriate ways of giving feedback on their products and services. Any of those methods will help.
Hope that helps anyone looking for a way to encourage Google to get on this. I’d love to see it updated ASAP.
I don’t know if this is entirely accurate, and I’m basing at least part of my opinion on @carverofchoice’s previous post in this topic. In fact, when I open up the Google Home app on my phone and select the Arlo doorbell at my sister’s home, I see in the “Device settings” a “Voice notifications” option that’s set to “On”, much like doorbell settings shown in the post above. I see no such detail when I open the Device settings for the Wyze Video Doorbell v2 linked to my own home.
I think the evidence indicates that non-Nest vendors like Reolink and Arlo are able to provide this feature, so it doesn’t seem unreasonable to me for Wyze users to want the same thing.
I also see that the FAQ for the VDBv2 has been updated and now links to a support article, but I’m unconvinced that “Google Home doesn’t support 3rd-party doorbell ring notifications” is an accurate statement (again, given the available evidence relating to other vendors).
It works with Alexa because the founders of Wyze were all ex employees at Amazon. So in some small part they probably work very close to them still as both are based out of Seattle.
This is from a internet search, I have shorten it to save space but its telling to me;
- Wyze is in league with Amazon
- Founders: All four founders of Wyze Labs are former Amazon employees. The company’s founders have said they were inspired by Amazon’s high-volume, low-margin approach to sales.
- Leadership principles: Wyze Labs has closely followed Amazon’s well-known leadership principles in developing.
- Low prices: Wyze’s low prices are due to two ideas, both connected to Amazon
Although Amazon does sell Google products due to there popularity, they don’t support all there functionality. So only makes sense that a newly created company of former Amazon employees that share the same principles, also share some of the same views towards Google integration.
Of course this is just one mans opinion so take it as just that, an opinion.
But I just ordered my nest hub today off another unnamed poplar site. (E***). They offer all Google products and all at a lower price. The hub was 20.00 cheaper with free shipping.
Im going to move my ecosystem into the Google world. Yes they are more expensive but with it you get more features and a name like Google to back it up. Im not going to replace all my cameras (8 total) or smart plugs (4) until they die. Then I will replace with Google products. Don’t think it will be to long as I started with 9 cameras 6 months ago. One has already died.
Are you contending that, Amazon, Arlo and Reolink all have a special API, that Wyze being only Google Certified isn’t privileged too. Then Wyze needs to get privileged as well. Why? Because Wyze is clearly false advertising. You box says work with hey Google. Wyze like it or not implied truer integration. And that isn’t honest. Wyze should be expected to change your advertising. Perhaps going beyond certified requires licenses that Wyze is not willing to pay. In that case, it istime for Wyze to stop making statements “works with hey Google” or pay the price of false advertising. You are missing the point. Consumers aren’t mad you aren’t integrated. The are mad and fell miss lead about implied integration. Wyze now needs to work with Google and pay what the cost is to be privileged as others. Or realize it is alienating and losing customers on this.
While I certainly appreciate the enthusiastic engagement of other users here, I can speak only for myself. I’m not angry at anyone. I’m disappointed in Wyze’s official responses to this issue so far, and I’m genuinely confused about why this particular Wishlist item is still in Maybe Later status and not In Progress. I think demonstrating some evidence that Wyze is actually working toward a more complete integration would go a long way toward placating at least some of the users.
Hi all, want to make sure that I go on record and say that I fully understand the need for this feature. I am a Google Assistant user myself and have a Google Home device in every room — this is something I want too. Any efforts to characterize this as something we do not want to offer are misguided. The second Google offers this option to us, we will get planning and executing. Efforts on our end to reach out to them have not resulted in anything for us to work on — until there is a connector for us to connect to, we can’t work on connecting. (@Crease that’s why we’re currently on Maybe Later status!)
Re: some of these other discussions— Wyze and Amazon are not directly linked. None of our co-founders worked on Alexa, they worked in the commerce side of Amazon, which is a huge company. We are committed to having great integrations with both platforms, and we even sell Google devices directly to customers on wyze.com.
When you see that “Works with Google” or “Hey Google” badge on a device (or the Works with Alexa one!), it means the company has paid for integration testing by the assistant team and has passed their requirements. This means functionality meets Google/Amazon’s requirements. It does not mean that we have been given any exclusive access to API features or anything.
Again, I get that this feature is a big plus, but until the Google team exposes the API to us, we cannot move forward on this. We are waiting with baited breath to deliver this to you!
