Wow, just installed the garage door controller and I’m surprised it’s so involved just to open the damn door. Even more surprising, folks have been asking for this to be addressed for over two years already, the new version of the app just came out, and STILL this is a problem? Is it really that difficult to solve this?? I want a widget to open and close the door!!
So ive had the garage door opener pretty much since it came out and love
- The price point
- The ability to make my garage door open without having to spend hundreds on a new opener.
I will say i do agree with everyone on this thread. I remember when they added the automation for being able to close the door as it wasn’t a thing when it first released.
It really does now need an open button. I get i can open it with google and a pin for security. Having said that most people have some type of screen lock so i dont see why we haven’t made the shortcut to also open the garage.
Need to get more of us to click the vote button at the top!
Gotta say as long as wyze stays affordable for commin folk like myself in 100% going to continue to use em.
Thanks wyze team
I found a way for iPhone users to have a widget. It’s convoluted, but it works.
• Download Google Home and connect Wyze to Google Home.
• Download Google Assistant
• Download Shortcuts (an iOS app)
• Create an automation in the Shortcuts app with the action “Close garage door”
• Add a the Shortcuts widget to you Home Screen with the “Close garage door” automation.
Note: When I tell Google Assistant to open my garage door, it tells me, “Garage cam is already unlocked.” If I tell Google Assistant to close the garage door when the garage door is already closed, it opens the door. This could be because I ignore the all-too-often garage cam notification asking me to configuration the QR code, causing Wyze to think my door is always open. If that’s true, then you might need two iOS Shortcut automations, one for opening and one for closing.
I hope there’s an android equivalent that could do this. I’d imagine there would be.
Hope this helps!
