I am a cam unlimited user. When I try to use the “friendly faces” feature, (which the Wyze webpage says I should be able to use), I get the error “oops this feature is not available in your area”. I live in VA. Do we have some dumb law about that here? Is there any workaround to make this feature work since I’m paying for it?
This what the FAQ says.
Wyze cannot provide Face Recognition services in some areas, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, New York City, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington State, and the Canadian Province of Quebec. By tapping “Agree and continue” in the app, you state and agree that you will not use this feature in those jurisdictions.
I paid for my radar detector but I can’t use it in your state either. Wyze is required to make reasonable efforts to block illegal features from being used in those regions, though it might be as simple as changing your address in your profile if you have an out of state billing address you can use.
However I’m not suggesting breaking the law, just saying when you travel out of state and bring your cameras with you, that would potentially be a way to make it work temporarily.
