I also have the same issue with my Floodcam 2! I have two other floodcam 2 lights on the same property and those seem to be working properly. Anyone find a resolution? All I want it to do is turn un at sunset and off at sunrise.
I ended up calling them and they offered a replacement or credit. I got a replacement and complained that I still have to pay someone to install it. Fortunately, I got friends willing to help.
What we think happened is the gasket did not keep the water out during a heavy rain and it accumulated enough to fry it.
Thanks for your response. I’ll look into that. Hopefully its just a glitch of some sort. I know the gaskets were all caulked, but its still possible water got in.
I think I figured out the problem..On my phone when I look at the picture, there is an floodlight icon on the lower left side that apparently turns on and off the light manually , well I clicked it and the light turned off! I think that overrides the automatic dusk-dawn schedule. Live and learn!
Wow I can’t believe it was that simple. I have been scratching my head over this for years now and gave up on the flood lights working properly ever. I just wanted a slight ambient light, then go full brightness on smart detection of pets, people and cars for a few minutes then back to ambient lighting. It was always stuck on the floodlight brightness control so I moved that to ambient and just dealt with a dim flood light at night. But when I toggled off the flood light on the camera view on the bottom left, it reverted back to the schedule and automations I wanted. That dumb button overrides everything else
Ok we had some big rains here in SoCal. The Flood Pro has been doing well up until the last rains. We had the Flood Pro exactly two years almost to the day of this post. When I installed the cam, I went overboard and made sure the wiring was going to be dry in a possible very wet scenario. I am not sure how, but the cam was condensed(ahem Wyze Engineering). We ended up with the dreaded perma-lights-on. My first reaction was to blame the hardware and was just resolved to having to purchase another(LW expired). However thinking it will rain more I chilled and was going to wait after the rainy season. We live by the Ocean, the afternoon sun pounds directly on that cam. Well, my guess is the circuitry dried and the cam is working just as good as before. I am not sure if corrosion will ultimately play out its ugly hand and get the circuitry in the end. All automations and lightning modes are working without skipping a beat.
I hope this helps.
Wyze cams is still a great hobby to have.
We need a door knob next team Wyze. The palm works great, but I have a room or two that can use an automated doorknob. Not a dead bolt. Just food for thought. Yay Team Wyze!
Right!! I felt the same way..That’s why I shared my solution. Seemed too simple! Glad you got yours back. BTW, I see a neighbor of mine has their Wyze light on constantly for months. I may have to knock on their door and see if they too have been having an issue. Although, I like the extra light at night!
Glad to hear it resolved..itself!1 You may want to add caulk around the top half of the light to prevent any water infiltration, leaving the bottom UNcaulked so that IF any water gets in, it can drain out. I have done that with the 3 outdoor Wyze lights I have. Living by the ocean is nice, but it has its dreaded drawback–Salty corrosive air! Ask any mechanic who sees the bottom of vehicles stored near the ocean and they can attest to rust. For vehicles..A different subject;) I’d recommend soundproof/water protection be apple. If the factory does that when a vehicle is purchased, that’s great. If not, aftermarket spray can be used. I guess you have to amortize the cost of replacing an item prematurely vs ocean living! Good luck with the lights and enjoy the ocean air! BTW, I’m in NJ and just had a big snowstorm..Wish I had been in CA or FL this week!
Don’t forget to check the little “light” icon on the bottom left side of the screen which seems to bypass the auto on/off which you may have set! That seems bypass the auto settings.
