We all have some squirreled away. Share 'em. Here. [image]

Peep raises another question on this topic…How often do you bookmark your OWN comments vs someone else’s

I wanted to violate that taboo immediately. There is no shame in self-referenciality. Although, strictly speaking, this isn’t an instance of that. Still, notwithstanding, et alia… Carry on. :judge:

No pressure. I had a couple of instances of sketchy people going through my neighborhood. Wanted video and stills without green boxes. I bookmarked the thread for future reference. I might even want to turn them back on at some point.

Alright, I went through all 80 of my bookmarks, and while 14 is much more than the requested 5, I’ll share them anyway: Portable Power I bookmarked this thread because @SlabSlayer organized a whole bunch of options to consider about portable power. I would eventually like to do portable power for some cams, and I know it will come in hand to share with forums users in the future as people are always looking for these solutions: [image] Wyze v3 and Portable Power Cameras Check these out… Tons of really technical stuff! warning WARNING warning : Searches for this type of innovation can lead you way down the rabbit hole! I also have several other similar threads bookmarked separately, but that one includes a lot all in one. Wyze Scale ROCKS! I bookmarked this thread because I loved the article and wanted to be able to reference it in the future…particularly as justification for why I LOVE the Wyze scale. It really is a pretty amazing Smart scale compared to competition: [image] Wyze Scale (Original) Wins Best Smart Scale & Most Accurate -per CNN tests Lifestyle I was searching for tests people may have run related to the Original Wyze Scale, which I have owned and been happy with for several years, and up came this new article from CNN last updated Jan 3th 2022. Over the course of a month they tested 8 of the top-rated/most-popular smart scales and checked a ton of things about them including how accurate the weigh-ins are, how well they work overall, etc. They consulted a sports medicine professional and even compared everything to professional analo… Home Assistant stuff: I bookmarked this post because I want to try all of these: [image] Home Assistant Integration Maybe Later The best software wyze docker bridge GitHub - mrlt8/docker-wyze-bridge: WebRTC/RTSP/RTMP/LL-HLS bridge for Wyze cams in a docker container home assistant frigate https://frigate.video/ double take GitHub - jakowenko/double-take: Unified UI and API for processing and training images for facial recognition. Use wyze docker bridge to expose rtsp streams from your wyzecams through the bridge, no firmware hack needed. Connect your rtsp streams to frigate to take advantage of all of its features… Free Virtual Triggers: I bookmarked this post because I LOVE this virtual trigger. I have set it up so that when my wife or daughter leave home or return home or get to certain other common locations, Alexa can trigger my Wyze devices such as Wyze Bulbs or Lightstrips or other things to let me know they arrived safely or are on their way back, or will be walking in the door in just a few seconds. It’s been awesome: [image] Share MacroDroid Macros for Wyze IoT Tips & Tricks Done and done. Go to Virtual Smart Home™ • URL Routine Trigger for Alexa Routines and login with your Amazon Account. Go into Amazon Alexa and install\enable\Link the URL Routine Smart Trigger Skill Go back to your URL Smart Trigger Account and add a URL Smart Trigger by naming it something like “Daughter Nearby”. Copy the first URL provided. Go to MacroDroid and create a macro. Trigger will be Notification Received From Google Maps that contains text “xyz lmnop” (whatever the push … Solutions for Connectivity Issues I bookmarked this post so when people report having connectivity problems with Wyze devices, when others like me are not having problems, it gives them some things they can look into in order to help improve their experience: [image] Wyze would sell more V3 cameras if they didn't need to have power recycled periodically Cameras I thought I’d write a more comprehensive answer I can refer to later since I see so many users believe their connectivity issues are solely Wyze’s fault. Some will cite their good/strong signal strength or Bandwidth as evidence it’s definitely Wyze’s fault, though the issue is way more complicated than just signal strength or even bandwidth alone. I used to experience a lot of these issues (devices losing connection and having to reboot often, etc) in the past myself. It was VERY frustrating ha… Garage Door Controller Universal Compatibility I like to share this with people who who think the Wyze Garage Door Opener is incompatible with their Garage Door, because this genius thread helped me be able to get one working on mine even though it is allegedly not compatible. I just had to wire a Remote control instead and now it works GREAT!!! [image] Wyze Garage Door Opener Hack – Not Compatible Chamberlain C203 Tips & Tricks Now that Insteon had died, I needed to replace my remote garage door monitors/openers. I have two openers, one opener is “compatible” (older Craftsman) the other (Chamberlain C203) is not with the new Wyze Garage Door Opener. However, since I had to hack the Chamberlain C203 to use with Insteon, I decided to try the same approach with the Wyze Cam v3 Garage Door Controller – Bottom line, it works! Here’s how: Basic process: Connect the output of the Wyze Garage Door Controller unit to the Chamb… Selective Dark Mode I bookmarked this to be able to share with Android users who are desperate for Dark Mode, but don’t want to force darkmode on every single app, just the Wyze app: [image] App Dark Theme/Mode In Progress DarQ APP is an option for lots of people to have Dark Mode on the Wyze App I have something to help Android users with the lack of dark mode on apps like this Wyze App that so many of us want. First, how I came to it: I tried the “Override force-dark” option in Android developer settings, and it was okay. Actually, it was better than okay, it worked great on all my 312 installed apps except for 1 that I noticed, a chess engine app had some weird color issues. Some other apps I may not have wan… Error Codes This is the most comprehensive list of Error codes anywhere. I refer to it a lot when people ask what an error code means: [image] Wyze Product Error Codes (Table) Tips & Tricks List of known Wyze product error codes Notes: Read carefully as there are codes that can be in “positive” and “negative” form. If your error code is not listed, please try to force close the Wyze app and retry as well as power cycling the camera This post will be updated as more codes become known. Reply if there’s any error codes I’ve missed or if you have any questions. Error code Error message/Description Steps to troubleshoot/possible solutions Cam/video: 1000 “Unknown error”… Answers about Wyze + Matter I refer people to this thread a lot when they are asking about Matter. I tell them to read everything Frederik wrote (as he was the employee in charge of getting Wyze into Matter in the first place): [image] SmartThings Integration Probably Not Unfortunately, this is too early to answer that question. We know that bulbs, plugs and switch have the right chip to run Matter but there are still some uncertainty around the size of the library for Matter. It will take some time before we can answer that question as Matter is still under very active development. FIX bricked v1 Sensors How to fix the V1 sensors when they “Brownout” from low battery: [image] Unbricking Wyze Contact Sensor - pcb reset pin Sensors So I noticed one of my contact sensors has the bootloader “backdoor” enabled, and I’m able to read & write the firmware using a simple USB to serial adapter (no JTAG). My other sensors did not have it enabled though, and I’m guessing most of the sensors out there are like that, but if anyone wants to try… [Warning: You can brick your sensor playing with this. You should only try it as a last resort, like to fix an already broken sensor by flashing Wyzeback.] I used a generic CP2102-based USB … How Wyze used to use TUTK: [image] Wyze is a Big Brother? The Company Failed Us Cameras Below is the logic between device and TUTK servers for illustrative purpose. I intentionally use generic words to hide detail implementation. During device setup time, the device registers itself with TUTK server to let Server know where it is. This is needed for TUTK to connect phone and the device in the future. However TUTK doesn’t know anything about Wyze user name, MAC, etc. We intentionally protected that. During device boot time, it registers itself with TUTK servers. Wyze’s code used … SD card Size and format differences This one isn’t very applicable anymore since Wyze officially supports both exFAT and FAT32 now, but this was a thread I referred to A LOT when people kept asking questions about MicroSD card sizes, etc: [image] Pan and V3 with 64GB SD CARDS Cameras I don’t represent Wyze, but I can help provide a little understanding on the differences. Differences to understand upfront to not get confused by the rest of the explanation: SDHC and SDXC are capacity standards. FAT32 and exFAT are File Structure formats Class is the speed the SD card can write What it mostly boils down to is the following: FAT32 is basically free to use at this point. It is an older file system and it has some limits (no individual files greater than 4GB), 8TB partitio… My initial thoughts on Cam Plus Vs SD card differences: [image] WyzeCam Plus vs having an SD card Services & Integrations I’m not sure if it was me (but it’s possible…I did post something about SD card usage between V2&V3 recently though), though I have recently put a lot of thought, consideration, and research into this out of curiosity. It seems to me that SD Cards should theoretically be a better deal (if you only care about the possibility of reviewing recorded footage)…in practice is another matter though (sometimes they die sooner than they theoretically “should.” It can be so hard to calculate since the an… I believe I followed this to set up Home Assistant for the first time: [image] Firmware Update to Allow Viewing Bricked Sensors (Like Home Assistant) Probably Not Hi billfern, I have a RPi4 but I read you can use a Pi 3 without a problem to run Home Assistant. I installed HassIO on a SD card using this method : [Home Automation 2019 - Getting Started] (it’s recommended to use a SSD instead of a SD card though) Then I plugged my Wyze bridge to a USB port of my Pi and followed this tutorial : [How to add Wyze Sense to Home Assistant!] It’s pretty straightforward, just requires to install HACS first (which is also explained in th…

This comment specifically (from one of the Mavens) because it’s direct, earnest, honest - and QUITE useful to know! [image] Has anyone found a bulb that DOES follow rules Power & Lighting its odd to say this but I am confident that many on the maven and mod teams have been in the Wyze ecosphere longer than some of their support people. with that comes A LOT of experience and of course amazing collaboration amongst ourselves to find solutions. and from time to time both the maven and mod squads do talk to Wyze managers, we serve occasionally as a focal point of issues that are common here on the forums and being them to their attention and help them understand what people are ha…

Glad to hear that’s what you were looking for

Here are two more Bookmarks. They are not thread bookmarks, but are Wyze related. Thought this would still be a good place to share. DownDetector Wyze page https://downdetector.com/status/wyze/map/ Wyze Service Status Known Issues page [image] Service Status & Known Issues SERVICE STATUS UPDATE Update: Regarding System Maintenance on February 8th Hey friends, We successfully completed a large portion of the maintenance tonight. Your devices may have been offline be... Peepeep, thanks for starting this thread. I have added it to my forum bookmarks.

Oh yes, I use both of those as well. I even have the Downdetector app on my phone so I can check it easily with Wyze saved as a favorite, along with AWS and some other AWS companies so I can see if there is a pattern of AWS connectivity issues that might be indicative of a Wyze outage. Great suggestion.
