I’ve noticed my cameras say up to date but when I check what’s new there are multiple new firmware versions. I know staged rollouts are a thing sometimes, but is it normal to be behind multiple versions behind?
For example my V4 cams are on version 4.52.9.3415.
That’s the same version my v4 is on. The december 3rd one is likely rolling out gradually. I’m not sure about that september one, I never got it either. Maybe it was only for Cam Plus subscribers or something.
Are you running app 3.8.5 or above? That’s required for the latest firmwares that are rolling out. Which unfortunately also means people running the 2.5 app on older devices are going to start losing these cams on those devices.
Yeah I’m running 3.8.7. I haven’t kept up with all the different plans. I don’t have Cam plus, I do have a subscription though, I have Cam unlimited. Whatever the difference between the two is, no idea. I would think if they were limiting it to “paying” members, I would still qualify.
I also leave automatic updates off at my homes, as I use smarts switches and plugs so I can restart the cameras to fix issues / keep them running smoothly. I can’t have them updating themselves / being in the middle of a firmware update and the power being cut to them.
Nah wasn’t suggesting it was for paying members only, was just thinking maybe that update was only needed for subscribers, but since you didn’t get it either, apparently not. I’m assuming we’ll see the December 3rd one soon.
Are you talking about the What’s new link for a device when you navigate to Account ➜ Firmware Update and/or the What’s new? link from a devices Device Info ➜ Firmware Version screen? That just takes you to that device’s accordion section on the Release Notes & Firmware page that shows the firmware release history for that device. As of this writing, I believe your Cam v4s are current with the version you mentioned.
So you think all v4s will do this? I replaced one of my OGs with a v4 a year ago and it is still going strong and I like it better than the OG in the spot it is in.
Most stores will let you exchange if you used a credit card or have an account with them even if you don’t have the receipt. Even if you can’t exchange it, you should be able to get a warranty replacement from Wyze based on the “in service” date.
Defective items happen to every company and industry, most people just exchange them rather than getting so upset about it.
That was the correct section I was referring too, however it showed two updates newer than what I was currently running when I made this post. In fact from that section I could manually download the firmware to load it I wanted. So no, it was not current. I did finally get offered the latest firmware finally through the app, and was able to update. Obviously this is much more convenient to do this rather than manually load firmware, especially when you have so many cameras, in many locations.
